The Barcelona team has given a warning to defender Ronald Araujo about signing a new contract soon, and it seems that he is ready to do so.
Talks are said to have taken place between Barca president Joan Laporta and Araujo, both of whom are said to have returned to Uruguay to agree a new deal and stay at the Nou Camp.
That's according to the source report SportsHe also adds that similar talks have taken place between Barcelona and midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Man United have made a move to sign a Premier League midfielder
Araujo apparently had an option on the table to leave Barcelona, both Manchester United and Chelsea were in charge 25 years old.
Araujo has been a key player for Barcelona and is understood to be a target for other big clubs, with Man Utd and Chelsea seemingly targeting him as his current contract expires in the summer of 2026.
Ronald Araujo now looks set to stay at Barcelona
It seems, however, that Araujo is expected to put a stamp on a new contract with Barcelona,
Araujo would undoubtedly have been a useful signing for United currently after a poor run, the club needs to renew the likes of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
However, the Red Devils would do well to look elsewhere after bringing in Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro in the summer, giving Ruben Amorim more of a defensive presence.
Meanwhile, Chelsea would also have benefited from the signing of Araujo, who can be seen as an upgrade to the likes of Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile, while Wesley Fofana has performed well but is injured.
