British pop star Lily Allen has opened up about her mental health issues, revealing that she has struggled to eat for the past three years.
The singer is no stranger to being honest about her difficult experiences and recently detailed her lowest point and struggle with alcohol.
Allen also caused a stir in September when she revealed she was having children for all the wrong reasons, and her recent revelation about her mental health struggles could raise concerns.

Lily Allen opens up about her mental health struggles
The 39-year-old singer shared details about her mental health struggles during the December 16 episode of her BBC podcast "Miss Me?"
Allen told co-host Miquita Oliver that she had been struggling with eating for the past three years, but hadn't told her therapist about it.
She revealed: "I've been going through a rough patch for the past few months and my diet has become a real problem."
The "Hard Out Here" singer also shared that her therapist asked her why she never opened up about her problems for a long time and admitted that while she doesn't have to lie during therapy, she inadvertently left out aspects of her life.
Allen explained, "It's just because it didn't seem at the top of my list of important things to talk about."

Lily Allen admits her brain and body aren't connected
The "Littlest Things" singer, who was diagnosed with ADHD in 2023, wondered if the disorder contributed to her omitting eating issues during therapy sessions.
Allen admitted, "I don't think about a lot of things. My body and my brain are two very separate things to me. I know a lot of people feel that those two things are very connected to each other, but with me it's very different. I spend a lot of time in my head and I don't think much about my body."
The "How to Build a Girl" actress revealed that her mental health is not good at the moment. She explained: "I'm not eating, but I'm not hungry - obviously I'm hungry, but my body and my brain are so disconnected from each other that the hunger messages don't go from my body to my brain."

Allen further revealed that she wasn't avoiding food, she was just not thinking, adding that her body was a few steps behind her.

Lily Allen's past eating problems
This isn't the first time the singer has opened up about her eating problems, as she previously opened up about her struggle with bulimia in 2011, despite people constantly praising her looks.
In conversation with Channel 4Allen said: "It's not something I'm proud of. But let me tell you something, I've had a lot of people come up to me and tell me how great I look. I've been on the cover of every magazine with them saying, 'Lily looks amazing. Look how much lost weight.' I thought I looked good."
However, despite the praise she received, Allen admitted that she was not happy. She wanted to be "the skinniest, shortest person in the world," but she couldn't do it without being unhappy about her love of food at the time.

Allen gets candid about his battle with alcohol
Allen marked five years of sobriety in November and told her bottom moment and past drinking problems during interviews with The Times UK.
The "Not Fair" singer admitted she "drunk herself to oblivion" before arriving at her ex-husband Sam Cooper's home after he moved on with a new relationship.
Allen revealed that she started screaming at Cooper when she got there, waking their two children, Ethel Mary, 13, and Marnie Rose, 11, who became agitated.
She admitted that her children "remember that. And they know that I was under the influence then and that it is important that mom avoids getting into such situations."
Allen is thinking about motherhood
In September, the mother-of-two opened up about her motherhood journey during an episode of her podcast, revealing that she now realizes she is had children for the wrong reasons.

Allen looked back on her childhood, revealing that she hopes motherhood will bring her the love and stability she's always craved and slow down her fast-paced career.

And the "22" singer shared that she became a mother ruined her career. She admitted: "My kids have ruined my career. I love them and they complete me, but in terms of being a pop star, they've totally ruined it. It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, frankly, you can."
