If you are patiently waiting to try ChatGPT Searchyou won't have to wait any longer. OpenAI after being made available to paid subscribers this fall announced on Monday will make this tool available to everyone, Plus or Pro membership required"in the coming months."
At this point, all you need is an OpenAI account before you can start using ChatGPT Search. Once logged in, and if your request requires it, ChatGPT will automatically search the web for the latest information to answer your question. You can also force it to search the web thanks to a handy new icon right in the query bar. OpenAI also added an option to make ChatGPT Search your browser's default search engine.
At the same time, OpenAI ChatGPT integrates Search and Advanced Voice mode. As you might have guessed, the former allows ChatGPT's audio persona to search the web for answers to your questions and respond in a natural, conversational manner. For example, say you are traveling to another city for vacation. Once you arrive, you can ask ChatGPT what the weather will be like, and with the built-in Search function, the chatbot can answer this question with the most up-to-date information.
To facilitate this feature, OpenAI says it has partnered with leading news and information providers. As a result, you'll also see widgets for stocks, sports scores, weather, and more. Basically, ChatGPT Search is becoming a full-fledged Google competitor right before our eyes.
OpenAI recently announced its expanded availability during "12 days OpenAI" Live broadcast. In previous live broadcasts, the company announced its general availability Sora and ChatGPT Pro, a new $200 subscription to its chatbot. With four more days to go, it's hard to see the company beating this announcement, but at this point OpenAI has a surprise or two.
