This post contains Large spoilers For "Naruto" And "Naruto: Shipden".
The shadow of the Makhiha massacre hangs above Connoha in "Naruto". This tragic incident is repeatedly expressed in the series over Sasuque Sciha, one of the last surviving members of the Plainhiha clan. Part of the Kakashi 7 team along with Naruto and Sakura, Sassuke has been haunted by the incident since the child, who directly shaped his trajectory as a future defector that requires revenge. To add insult to the injury, his brother Itachi, whose seemingly violent motivations (and constant incentives for Sassuke to reinforce), took over the massacre (and constant incentives for Sassuke to be reinforced).
But the honor has little place in a world that is transmitted with convoluted machinations and fraudulent intentions. Sassuke's defecation is a complex subject, but it is also the actions of Istachi - to better understand the latter, we need to contextualize the incident in question. You see, Connocha was shaken after the nine tail attackAnd some of the leaders have begun to doubt the classroom, because of their ability to use Sharganan (which can be used to control the astter). This suspicion/mistrust led to the Starihas being completely isolated, leading to the clan's decision to organize a coup (and to overthrow the existing leadership).
However, the coup cannot be carried out overnight, especially in a society where it is standard to be shinobes. The classroom clan has appointed several spies, including Istachi, to infiltrate the Konoha Information Command Structure. The plan was to identify structural weaknesses and remain updated for all counter-movements. Unfortunately, Uchiha could never predict the terrible series of events that would eventually lead to their collapse.
Itachi was manipulated in making a terrible choice to protect Sasuke Sciha
I have to predict that itachi was labeled as a fornication, as he showed exceptional talent that helped him quickly climb the rows of Ancu's black options (elite, morally gray fraction of Shinobi). Moreover, he was also a deeply attached person for whom Sassuke was looking for as a child. Thinking someone like Istachi, ruthlessly slaughtered his clan (and his parents) and mocking Sassuke during his life is unthinkable, so what exactly happened here?
While itachi was spying on his clan, he was not in line with the coup because he wanted to prevent unnecessary bloodshed. Feeling this conflict, Konoha's leadership manipulates Istachi's well -meaning motifs and persuaded him to become a double agent. The third hoc -up was the only person who truly aimed peacefully resolving the conflict, but the others, specifically Danzi Shimura, strongly believed that eliminating the teaching was less than the two evils. In the midst of this chaos, Ichachi's friend, Shissi, tried to use the Camatzukami on his mangu, Shargan to change the heads of these leaders, but Danzi took one eyes instead (!). Fearing from abuse of the other eye, Shissii left it to Istachi for storage before committing suicide. Unfortunately, Studiha mistakenly concluded that itachi had killed Shissi after betraying his clan.
Shissii's death cemented Izachi's belief that an unsolvable solution is impossible. Once again, Danzi used this and convinced Istachi that there were only two options: to allow the coup to happen, but it would lead to legal extinction of the clan, or itachi could kill everyone himself while sparing Sassuke's life. With threats of an inevitable civil war, itachi has decided to bear a terrible burden that will destroy his sense of forever.
Sassuke's moral complexity in Naruto is directly shaped by the Massacre in the school
Sassuke was only 7 years old when the Massacre in Science happened. He returned home to find his entire clan slaughtered, along with his parents, with Istachi standing over their lifeless bodies. To get his brother to think he was a ruthless killer, itachi attacked him while pushing him to accept revenge. Broken and traumatized, Sassuke retaliated, trying to do exactly what his brother asked and attacked Istachi in an attempt to wake up his Harinagan. Although he was able to knock out the protector of the forehead of Istachi, Sassuke went through the trauma, and his mind deleted this violent revenge to protect him.
As intended by Istachi, the damage was done, as Sassuke spent every moment of awakening trying to become strong enough to kill Istachi and have since avenged his clan. After Orohimaru's repeated interventions to corrupt (along with some ITachi visits to provoke it), Sassuke was defended by Concha, choosing a dark path marked with pain and anger. The truth about that fateful night was lost on time but Sassuke has taught the truth a little late in "Naruto: Shipuden"Making him to realize that itachi's actions arise only from the need to protect.
Instead of cutting it off, the truth is angry, encouraging Sassuke's desire to destroy Konoha because he held the village responsible for what happened to his brother. After all, the reincarnated Istachi stopped Sasuke, calling for him to realize that he had already achieved the goal of becoming stronger and that attacking the village would be contrary to what he was sacrificing. This marked the beginning of Sassuke's gradual reform, where he continued to protect Connocha along with Naruto through any crisis.
