"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" will end its journey after five seasons and 50 episodes. While the show's fans may be upset when they learned that they will not continue indefinitely, know that the five season plan has the perfect canonical sense. For one, in the Star Trek Universe, the federation's stars are known for accepting five -year missions, after which their teams leave their seats and move to other ships.
Second, "Strange New Worlds" is the foretold of the original "Star Trek" series that takes place just a few years earlier on the same USS Enterprise and shares more characters. Hence, the "weird new worlds" will eventually overlap with the time frame of the 1960s show we all know and love. Five years is all we'll ever get from this series.
However, is there a way to get more "strange new worlds?" Some diplomatically suggest that we can get the next movie about the show's characters. It's one of the best series "Star Trek" on the recent vintage, so why not give it an additional final? Early in the development of the series, there were even Plans for two -hour film "Strange New Worlds". Why not resurrect that?
Since then they have no plans to make such a movie, but "Strange New Worlds" show -Show Henry Alonzo Meyers and Akiva Goldsman have since mentioned (for fun) that the film would surely focus on Captain Pike (Anson Mount). Talking to SFX magazineGoldsman admitted that the film would not happen for two reasons. For one, it is out of his hands and can be dictated only by the new head of Paramount/Skydan Joncho David Ellison. Ellison is obviously fever, but that doesn't mean he'll take the green thing that flies. He probably descends a lot. Jack, even I have a terrain for him if he is ready to hear.
A strange movie about new worlds would focus on captain Pike
However, Moreso, Goldsman became a more fondicist on television than he had previously thought he would be. The writer, mind, is better known for his high -profile scenarios in the studio film; He wrote "Batman and Robin", won an Oscar for a "nice mind" roast and dozens written. These days, however, he wants television more because he can transfer the genres. He also wants "strange new worlds" will continue indefinitely and that a movie can happen. But again, as he told the magazine SFX, "It won't happen, but by the way, if anyone wants to throw movie money at us, we won't argue, are we, Henry?"
"No!" Meyers agreed before it was clarified:
"(...) I think that would be the story of Captain Pique. That's what all would like. The fun to make a TV -Show is to rely on everyone. That's what I would miss. I think, I love movies, but that's what I would miss you from TV."
So, indeed, a movie about Meyers and Goldsman would be a step down. They certainly love captain PikeAnd he could easily write a story about him, but they prefer the approach of the ensemble, giving singular episodes to other members of "Strange New Worlds". Again, they know how they would make a movie, but Meyers and Goldsman seem uncertain if they would really want to do it.
Goldsman concluded by reiterating that he would happily continue to "strange new worlds" if Paramount gave him a chance:
"We will only do them until they stop stopping us. We will go boldly until they tell us to sit down."
"Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" moves to Paramount+.
