October is, which means it's time to see nothing but horror movies for next month. In Halloween guidance, it is only appropriate for someone to catch the huge cannon of the horror genre, which has been widespread through the cinema since its inception. Indeed, there are so many trends and sub-genres of horror that every October can be specifically programmed to represent a very specific horror niche. Are you behind your Italian films with zombies? There are stairs. Found-tape? It's easy to find. Lesbian vampires? So, so much. Motorcycle magic? More than you think.

And many are probably preparing to watch a marathon on films and TV shows based on Steven King's records. A massive fruitful author, King saw his job adapted for the screen again and again, starting with the release of Brian de Palma's "Kerry" in 1976. King's adaptations have been released almost every year since then, with two major already in 2025: "Monkey" And the very celebrated "long walk". Some King's adaptations continued to create whole franchises; Counting the short film "Vrana's students", there were 12 corn films of corn. "It's a lot of films in the center of cereal.

King's two adaptations are currently proven very popular on HBO Max (after Flixpatrol), one of which can be surprised. Surprisingly, the service subscribers see "IT" again in 2017, a mega-blockbuster based on King's novel in 1986. "That", directed by Andy Mushetti, has since become a horror touch on his side, with His monstrous clown penichand (Bill Scarsgard) Becoming canonized in the theogonia of memorable film monsters. However, unexpectedly, the movie version of Salem Lot 2024 (based on the 1975 vampire novel of the Vampire) is also a table.

"That" was, as mentioned, giant success in the box office in 2017. King's original novel is an infamous debt (working 1,138 pages), so Mushetti's film only adjusts the first half of the story. However, this was easy to achieve, as the first part of the book took place in the 1950s when the protagonists were 12, while the second half was set in 1986, when they were all traumatized, dysfunctional adults. Mushetti's film only changed the events forward, setting up the children's work in the 1980s. Adults were later adapted to "IT Chapter Two" in 2019 (another huge hit).

The popularity of Lot of Salem is surprising, however, as it has not attracted much attention when it was originally released to HBO Max in 2024. The film was originally set to hit theaters in 2022, but it was delayed during post-production for reasons related to Covid. It was later delayed again during the infamous Warner Bros./Discovery Fire Sale, and then once again due to the 2023 WGA/SAG-AFTRA attacks. Eventually arrived to minimal fanfare and Midi reviews (like this one from /film Chris Evangelist).

Both "IT" and "Lot of Salem" were previously converted into famous TV ministers. "It" was adapted in 1990, while Salem's Lot found it in CBS in 1979. And "IT" in 1990 and Salem from 1979 were widely seen and loved in the horror community. "Salem of Salem" even inspired a 1987 TV sequel titled "Returning to Lot Salem", along with a second TNT miniser adaptation in 2004. There was also 2021 TV series entitled "Chapelwaite", which was based on the king in the 1850s set "Salem" of Salem "Story of Foretelling" of Jerusalem.

Probably, "very much of Salem" (2024) is now attracting more attention, as many people missed last year. However, it is a lot of "a lot".
