Horror movies are prone to recycling the same ideas over and over. It's not necessarily a bad thing: there is comfort in closeness. But always and then, someone manages to expose the formula constantly-so much in the way it feels almost ingenious. "I'm surprised that no one has done this before!" You may end up thinking. Recently, movies like "In a violent nature" (Easier film told by POV on Slasher) and "Dangerous animals" (A serial movie about killers where the killer feeds his shark victims) found ways to take well -wearing subgroups and do something fresh in them. Now, Ben Leonberg's pleasant creep is joined by the list.

"Good Boy" is a haunted movie in the house and often plays with all the traps that come with such a scenario, including nightmares with supernatural reinforcement, which have the main character in bed. Ah, but here's the turn: The leading character is a dog! "Good Boy" doesn't tell a new story, but finds a fun new way to do things Looks Fresh with transplanting haunted houses in the narrative, told entirely by POV on a very, very good dog.

That dog is indie, played by director Leonberg's real dog with the same name, and this dog certainly deserves a place in the hall of animal actors. There are times when Indy seems to be more pronounced and talented by several modern human actors who will remain nameless. I suppose you could claim that there is something manipulative at work here - those of us conditioned to love dogs unconditionally (like me, for example) will be on the edge immediately, praying that nothing bad falls on this puppy. But I never He felt Maniping a "good boy" and this is what is considered.

In "Good Boy", Indy is a dog belonging to Todd (Jane Jensen), a man suffering from some vague illness. A raining night, Todd moves to the abandoned house of his dead grandfather (playing through home video footage of Indy -Horor Legend Larry Fessen), bringing Indi with himself. Almost immediately, it becomes clear to the plant indie that something is very, very wrong with this house, although Todd seems unconscious.

This is a clever setting in general; Everyone has a certain closeness to the concept of dogs who bark or look at something people can't see. It's an idea of ​​a haunted house's roast-story: pets can feel supernatural in ways people can't. And, as one night rain gives a place to another, Indy continues to experience all kinds of frightening things that lurk in the shadows of the house. Is someone - or somesomething - There? Leonberg keeps almost the whole focus of Indy's film, our guide through this frightening story. While there are people in the film, like Todd, cinematographer Wade Grebel finds ways to keep them out of focus or just out of the frame - our eyes are always fixed to the indie as he moves with the lurking spirits. This effectively makes a "good boy" a kind of post-human film, where people are almost during thinking. Leonberg could probably take matters even more and remove people completely, though it would limit the emotional hook that appears as a result of a clear link between Indy and Todd.

The "Good Boy" initially started as a short film (which also starred in indie), and the biggest problem here is that the feature adaptation is felt in thin (watches for 73 minutes, but even it starts to feel weak after a while). While the film's hook is an incredible novel and is well performed, it also becomes clear that the script, deservedly of Leonberg and Alex Canon, is missing. We hear unclear details of the bad things that have happened in the past, and while I'm for mystery, and generally I don't like when horror movies are trying to rethink their mythology, "Good Boy" begins to come across as a great idea in search of a better movie. There are not much meat on these bones. I wanted a little more.

And yet, Indy is such a good guy that you want to adhere to the movie just to see how things come out. Leonberg also manages to invent a lot of style here, playing around with strange lighting and frightening shades. There is a constant autumn atmosphere, also with a wet, rainy weather that prevails from one point to the next. ASMR fans will dig this.

After all, the "good boy" lives and dies of how the viewer wants dogs. If you are a great fanboy of man's best friend, then you will probably find a lot here to want (while Indy is constantly in some kind of supernatural danger, Leonberg is wise enough to make sure the dog pulls out of whatever the spirits and ghosts are thrown). The "Good Boy" may not reveal the under -haunted house, but proves that you can still learn the old dog new tricks.
