It has been a great year for horror, with films like "Sinners", "Final Destination Bloods" and "Weapons" that have dominated the water cooling talks over the past few months. However, one of the largest, most anticipated offers of the 2025 genre is still on the horizon: "Black Phone 2." A sequel to the hit of the Smash "Black Phone" (which hit the 2021 film festival circuit before opening theater in 2022), the film restores Ethan Hawk as an unusual kidnapping kidnaper. And if a horror maestro is believed, the audience is in a pleasant surprise.

Indeed, Steven King has now shared his bright thoughts on director Scott Derikson "Black Telephone 2", which has shades of director's "wicked" in his marketing. King, one of the most prolific authors of our time and the mind behind the horror classics, such as "Salem Many" and "IT", had high praise for the sequel. "It's not as good as the first.

Again, high praise. The first "black phone" is based on the story of the same name from OEO Hill, which also seems to be the son of King. And while yes, King can be a little biased here because of it, he is not the only one that brings praise to the film. Reviewing Dericson's Fantastic Fest /Film Following, Rafael Motomayor similarly described the "Black Phone 2" As a "fantastic sequel" that is "bigger" and "adds to the experience of the first film".

Whatever it is worth, I was at the premiere of the Fantastic Fest film, and I also enjoyed the sequel. The room's reaction was flooded with positive, and although the spoiled tomatoes (from this writing) have yet to spread sufficient reviews to give the film an official result, critical reactions are currently listed on the website.

The "Black Phone" sequel once again focuses on Finn (Mason Thames), who is now 17 years old and fights for life after being abducted and almost killed by the kidnapper. Meanwhile, now-15-year-old Gwen (Madeleine McGrawa) is starting to receive calls in her dreams from the black phone, despite seeing visions of three boys being kicked out of the winter camp known as Lake Alpine. Determined to solve the mystery, Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp, only for the couple to discover that they must oppose the kidnapper once again, with the killer only growing more powerful in death.

"I had to ask myself: is it" Black Phone 2 "a movie I am ready to make if it is the last movie I ever get?" As Derikson /Movie said last year. "I spent some real time thinking about it. When I came across a story or taking that movie, it excited me. I was like, absolutely, that's the next movie I wanted to do."

It seems that it was a wise move. In addition to directing, Derickson also co-wrote "Black Phone 2" with his honor collaborator F. Robert Cargill (which also produced the sequel). For Blumhouse Productions, this can come as a welcome victory. Blumhouse has a rough year, with "M3GAN 2.0" Both the "wolf man" and both do not expect the expectations critically and commercially. Hence, at this stage, the studio can seriously use a hit. However, if the audience is motivated by critical thinking, this seems to be the success the company needs to produce Jason Bloom.
