This article contains spoilers For Gen V Season 2, Episode 4, "bags".
So, Marie Morau (Gap Sinclair) is now explicitly selected On a hero's journey. In the "Boys" universe. Surely, it will end well.
Before this episode, Season 2 "Gen V" has already played with the idea of Marie is not just a hero but the Hero. In the season premiere, New Year, New U, Starlight (Erin Moriarti) responds to Marie's saying by recruiting young people from a bloodshed as an LighterVar agent and gives the mission to understand what the mysterious project is. Marie and Jordandan Lee (London Thor and Derek Luh) even share a dark shaking for it, noting that the "chosen" tend to be white males of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), the glory of the "Matrix" (Keynu Reeves) and Frodo.
"Tores", however, clearly states that this is no longer a game. During their training, Dean Schiff (Hamish Linklater) fully tells Marie that she is the whole point of both the god U and the project to create superpower Odessa: the superpower that has the potential to become the strongest of them all, and very likely, including the "boys" Big Bad. In other words, Marie is now considering the exact chosen one fate that she specifically promised to avoid ... and given the franchise she is part of, this new status image is image of a huge narrative purpose on her back.
Boys and General V are not kinda to heroes
Marie's potential teases several times, and to face, she is Technical orphan with mysterious forces. However, the "bags" mark the first time the insider of Vought in its entirety said he could be able to beat the Dutch. In any other show, this will send it on the classic path to overcome evil. It is a pity that this is "Gen V" and there are no heroes here.
Both the "boys" and his spin-off have again shown the time and time that happens to people trying to be traditional superheroes or protagonists. On the "boys", you can count the alleged Crimefighter's heroic supercars that are not secretly twisted, terrible or corrupt with one hand and still have fingers to save. Gen V Season 1 Similarly introduces a "Golden Boy" to the new generation (Patrick Schwarzenegger), who could actually be a semi-decent man, if it wasn't for the fact that Vuj used his girlfriend Kate (Medi Philips) to constantly mess with her brain. Even the darkest types of antiheroes tend to go at some point during their trip - just ask Billy Batcher (Carl Urban), which is everything, but it should become a kind of villain even the homeland can be afraid when "Boys" ends with Season 5.
So where does this leave Marie? In a bad place, surely. Being a hero, let alone chosen, is not a great thing in this universe - historical, it's a dark omen of danger, despair and death. Now that Marie's path and potential are written, it seems much more likely to suffer shocking, tragic and/or extremely shameful fate than to become the strongest super and have ever happy.
Season 2 "Gen V" is broadcast on the premiere video, with new episodes falling on Wednesday.
