The series shared its name with Gould's third novel in the Jumper series, though similarities between the two more or less end with the title. Both follow a teens jumper, but in the book this character was the center, the daughter of the protagonists of the first book/film. In the series, Henry was presented instead as a new character without David's Hayden Christensen.

The series engages in dark territory, with Henry revealing her jumping abilities as a classmate trying to sexually assault her. Initially, Henry's jumping is shown to be taking place with the attacks that suffer and panic attacks, with fear of being a major challenger for her powers. Like David of Christensen from the "jumper", it has also been shown to have some degree of telekinetic ability. When it first jumps, it also destroys the car in which she was attacked, leaving her striker permanently paralyzed.
