Dwayne "Rock" Nsonson is one of the largest movie stars in the world for more than a decade. After earning the unofficial nickname of "Franchise Viagra" for his ability to revive the film series, he starred in the biggest big films, from "Fast and Furious" to "Moana". He has become so popular that It was even rumored that NSONSON is running for president at one point. But chasing big dollars at box office did not always result in the most award -winning roles or challenges on the screen. However, that's all about changing.
Speaking at the Venice Film Festival (through BBC), Nsonson was ready for the premiere of his new movie The "Breaking Machine", in which UC legend Mark Kerr plays. It is a complete blown transformation for NSONSON and a kind of film in which we are not used to watching it. During the press conference, the wrestler-pre-actor found himself honest about his career, acknowledging that he focused on the box office above all:
"When you're in hollywood, as we all know, it has become an about box office, and you chase the box office. Category - 'This is your lane, this is what you do, and this is what people want you to be, and this is what hollywood wants you to be'. They were going on, and some not so good! "
Nsonson's self -consciousness feels needed. He knows that some of his films didn't hit him from the park, and I'm not here to choose specific films. After the 2022s "Black Adam" failed to revitalize DC's film franchise, as he hoped to do soIt seemed like something to change in the man they call him a rock. He is now totally refocused his career, it seems, and is ready to change things.
Rock is ready to dispute as an actor
"I think what I realized is that I just had this desire to burn and this voice that just said," What if there is more, what if I can? "" NSONSON added. "Sometimes, it's hard to know what you are capable of when you were pigeons in something. It's harder to know "wait, can I do it? I feel like I can." And sometimes, they need the people you love and respect to say "you can."
It's been a long time since NSONSON seemed to have really faced an actor, but we know he could deliver the goods. Probably his best performance came in Michael Bay's "pain and profit", But that film only did well in the box office. So, he handled the films that felt safer, like the films "Umanumandzhi", which were huge hits. And while there is nothing wrong with those films, in my modest opinion, chasing bigger films also meant not to flex his acting muscles so much in smaller projects.
Even those who watched his HBO baller show know that Nsonson has more than one equipment. To that end, the early reviews of director Benny Safdi's "smashing machine" were greatly positive. (The film is currently sitting at 86% of rotten tomatoes.) Not to go ahead, but it feels like an Oscar nomination is in the cards. This can really be the beginning of a new chapter for NSONSON. In Venice, he explained that fear had previously played a role in the species he chose to this point, also:
"I was scared to go deep and intensively and cruel until now, until I had this opportunity to do it."
The future of NSONSON can and should be bright with this new way of thinking. He already has a new movie in the works attached by Martin Scorsese to directly Leonardo DiCaprio also set up a co-Starvist. Of course, he will also star in the live remake with Moana action, but no one says the rock should not act in blockbusters. Movies like "Fast Five" are worth having. But when Nsonson carries its starvet power and causes new ways with a variety of material spectrum? This opens the door to many very intriguing possibilities.
The "Smashing Machine" hits the theaters on October 3, 2025.
