On the surface, it seems that Sam Raimi's wicked dead II " It was a continuation of the delay, but, according to the director, the first installment made "very poorly domestic" during the initial theater edition. Although I grew up just over an hour south of Raimi's hometown, Detroit, Michigan, where it premiered in 1981, I knew nothing about the film until I saw a series of glorious shiny photographs in the Jangoria magazine at some point in 1983. Shortly thereafter, the film appeared in my local video store and my Tortric Love -Board with "Cinema".

Four years has been a long time to wait Tracking the "wicked dead" (The title Raimi hated), but Fangoria was constantly writing about the first film and insisted that the sequel was in works. And so, I dreamed of the brightest dreams, wondering how Raimi could lower his brilliant original film with, probably a bigger budget. Has the wicked force started by the Necronomiccone ex-memoris possessed a unique survivor ash (Bruce Campbell) and would make a chaos of civilization? Or will he withdraw on his own and find a new package of victims?

I couldn't predict Gonzo's direction in which Raimi went with the "Evil Dead II" because I was fully acquainted with the sensitivity of mice to co-writer of the film SPIEGEL. It is possible that his name appeared in the exhaustive coverage of the "wicked dead" phanges, but I made no sense for this maniac's comedic genius. Fortunately, Raimi brought his old friend from Michigan to the ship to script the sequel, which is just one of the biggest horror films ever made and is probably the funniest.

Scott Spiegel, who recently died at the age of 67, was a maestro at Madcap Mirth. Inspired strongly by the three stoses, he filmed a series of 8 mm short films with a comedy trio, which he eventually called SPIEGEL, (Matt) Taylor and (Tim) Quil. A key member of the group's company was Bruce Campbell, who served as a foil of their bone antiquity. In the end, his classmate in high school Sam Raimi joined the troupe and he quickly exposed unusual director chops.

SPIEGEL will continue to play Scott in the short film in 1978 "Within the Forest", dry, calls for "The Evil Dead". The character will be portrayed by Richard Demmanckor in operation. In 1985

When Raimi and Spiegel tried to write the script for "Evil Dead II", they let their imaginations flow wild. Some of what they were dreaming of (a group of prisoners who endanger the ashes while looking for buried wealth, and the version that would connect "Evil Dead II" and "Army of Darkness") proved to be too expensive for realization. Even when De Laurentis (with assistance through Steven King) encountered $ 3.6 million in funding, the duo had to make drastic reductions in their scenario. This is why Ash (Campbell) and Linda (Dennis Bixler) are the only cab passengers at the beginning of the film. Consider this reduction in the massacre.

The most important creative decision came completely from SPIEGEL, who thought Raimi should withdraw from the pure horror of the "wicked dead" and make a horror sequel that relied much on the comical expertise they developed during their formative years as 8mm directors. Upper reinforced horror-fish with stone pieces inspired by the three steys? Stuart Gordon's "Re-Amidator" possessed a bit of this ancient energy, but Spiegel wanted to go out at all, and fortunately, Raimi was a game. Some of the pieces were tested in a fight (run by ash against his cut off, it was saturated with SPIEGEL's short film "Attack on aid, in which a woman was attacked by the Hamburger Hamburger logo), but pulling these panties together to form a coherent film.

Post- "The wicked dead II" in SPIEGEL's career has taken off a promising start with Grocery store, trembling "intruder", Who, in 1989, earned Lawrence Bender his first production loan. SPIEGEL took a loan to introduce a bender with a young video store clerk named Quentin Tarantino, and worked with the second few times over the years (directing "From Dusk to Dawn 2: Blood Money in Texas", "My Name is Modesty" and "Hostel". Stunning, the very marked fruit brutal cereal box in "Pulp Fiction" belonged to SPIEGEL.

SPIEGEL was obvious Inverted joke. He once deceived Ethan Cohen to respond to the phone receiver coated in a shaving cream while living in a house that boasted Raimi and five future Oscar winners (Coens, Francis McDormand, Katie Bates and Holly Hunter) as travelers. Hunter was Raimi and SPIEGEL's first choice to play Bobby Oeo in Evil Dead II, but the producers did not think it was sexy enough. Oh.

In a city full of ghosts, SPIEGEL was considered a real, talented man. Yes he got co-write credit on One of Clint Eastwood's worst movies (The script that is read as it is written to direct Raimi), but it helped change the face of horror. SPIEGEL was loved and will miss it.
