I do a stretch every night, based in part on what I have gained in books and lessons on yoga, and in part on physical therapy practices accumulated due to recovering from various illnesses or injuries. I found that if I did this carefully, pay attention to each exercise instead of watching TV at the same time, it would be easier and more enjoyable. Unfortunately, if there is something particularly interesting on TV, I tend to get rid of this habit. The last time happened was last year's NBA playoffs. When they first appeared, there were plenty of games to watch. So, I think it's OK to watch their stretching for the time being. But the playoffs ended last June and so far I haven't done my routine carefully. So many excuses are "temporary".
Over the past few days, I have re-established my comfortable stretch and reaffirmed how relaxed it is. Hopefully next time I can fight the excuse.
This event prompted me to read more about mindful yoga, and I found books on Amazon about it. So I tried Practice of Mindful Yoga Hannah Ross. This is a great book and there are many great tips for injecting mindfulness into your daily work. However, I only recommend those who already have yoga or stretching routines. Hannah does provide suggested routines at the end of the book, but the instructions are only in text and have no pictures, which is difficult for beginners to learn.
