The 2001 documentary series Project Greenlight was new and fascinating. Before production, show -show (including longtime friends and frequent associates Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Damon and Affleck received over 7,000 scripts before winning them at one, entitled "Stolen Summer", written by Pete Onesons. Thenons then quickly and, with the help of producers, made the "stolen summer" in a feature film. "Project Greenlight", during its 12 episodes, in detail made the production of "Stolen Summer" from the selection of the script to the final product. The Onesons film was made for just $ 1.8 million, although it was not a success in the box office.

"Project Greenlight", which aired on HBO, was supposed to encourage independent cinema voices and continue the trend of the 90's on a low budget, indie films that regularly attract attention at national level. It lasted four seasons and produced four significant films. The names of Affleck and Damon, in addition to these small projects, aimed to strengthen their profile.

The second season of Project Greenlight was produced by Ephram Protel and Kyle Rankin "The Battle of Hacker Heights", while the third seasonal chronicle made "Holiday", crunchy, stupid monster. In all three cases, the films were modestly budgeted, but still made very little money at the box office. In addition, none of them received positive reviews. It seems that even the presence of Affleck and Damon could not force the hits. Indie films, we learned, had to be organic discoveries.

The fourth season of "Project Greenlight", which was not aired until 2015, covered the production of Jason Man's film "Class for Free Time", a comedy starring Bruce Davison, and that was the most memorable effort to all of them. Made for $ 3 million, the film was not released in cinemas and served only as a finale of the Greelight season. Critics hated that. As for this writing, the "leisure class" has an irreplaceable 0% approval rating Rotten tomatoes (based on nine examinations).

The fourth season of Project Greenlight, It should be noted, there was something from shaking. The winner of the season scenario season was a script called "No Another Beautiful Woman" (written by Ricky Blit) and the chosen director was to be director Jason Mann. As it began the production of "Womanena", however, Man brought his scenario, the "Free Time Class" of Damon's attention, hoping to do it instead. Mann pushed and negotiated, and Damon was finally worn out, producing the film he wanted to do. It seems that insistence and little arrogance need to survive in Hollywood.

The general consensus is that "Class for Free Time" is an interesting film only if you have the context of the "Project Greenlight" season. The film itself, critics seem to agree, is boring and insincere and does not stand alone. No one would be interested in a "free time class" if they had not already seen the fighting the directors suffered to do so. After all, the "Free Time Class" and "Project Greenlight" should be consumed as a whole unit, not just vaguely related pieces of companions.

The film itself is for Charles (Ed Wicks), a character aimed at marrying his girlfriend Fiona (Bridget Reagan), the daughter of a senator. The night before the wedding, however, Charles' brother, Leonard (Tom Bell), arrives potentially spoiling the whole day. It is then revealed that Charles is actually William, a man who plans to marry his bride and then face his money. Bruce Davis and Brenda Strong also co-star as the father and mother of the bride, and the couple were clearly "getting" in the production.

It should be noted that making the "leisure class" came with trouble of controversy. Damon produced the film with Efi Brown, and she was worried that the film - and "Project Greenlille" in general - it was about white people's interests and careers. Damon and Brown then continued to strengthen their heads to the question of diversity, which inspired several parts of the media entertainment landscape (including this from a slate). Views on the "Free Time Class" were negative, but not angry. Critics have largely agreed that the film was not as offensive as non -essential. It is a weak film with uninteresting characters and passing through the eyeballs without noticing. Keith Ulich, writing about the Hollywood reporterHe also noted that the Project Greenlight final were just incidental accessories for the documentary series that preceded them and that the "leisure class" was not proud. "We are here to judge" the class of free time itself, "he wrote," and Hu Boy, which is much of this alleged comedy. Diversity Brian Lori It was no Kinderubese, but it was at least more disappointing, writing that the satirical edge was missing and that the true goals of the film's parody were not completely clear. Are we intended to take root for William, a righteous upper class destroyer? Or are we intended to sympathize with the tears of Fiona?

The idea behind Project Greenlight remains healthy, but would help if the directors fought to make good movies. If the "leisure class" is an indicator, the show was very much for nothing.
