Security warning! This article contains spoilers For Season 3, Episode 3 of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds".
There are a bunch of amazing hereditary characters on "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds", starting from taking Ethan Peck to the semi-human, semi-vulner to the bubble but brilliant nurse by Jes Bush, and it can do it a little bit of tricky for new franchises. It is also a shame, too, because one of the best characters in "Strange New Worlds" is also the most common: Melissa Fabija Lieutenant Erika Ortegas. The USS company Helmman is a cool, confident pilot who can do amazing things, and unfortunately, it mostly took (metaphorically) back seat of the rest of the crew when it comes to shooting and stories.
While Season 2 give Ortegas more more From the fabulous flyer, it really wasn't enough. Fortunately, the writers and producers of the show listened, because Season 3 finally gives Ortegas a chance to really shine. In episode 3, "Shuttle to Cephalic", Ortegas must overcome his fears and recent traumas to achieve almost unattainable and protect the lives of the entire company of the company while trying with a bold rescue. It is a great little Ortegas bow, hoping to come more in the last two seasons.
Ortegas faces her fears and flies high in season 3
After being trapped by Gorn at the end of the season 2 "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds", Ortegas and several other crew members had to try to survive and fight their exit The premiere of the brutal season 3, "Hegemony, Part II". Those are pretty traumatic things, even for someone who fought in the war of the Federation-Klingon. So, it's not so surprising when she's a little more awkward than usual during a staff meeting, and Lieutenant Colonel Una-Ri-Riyal (Rebecca Romaine) even says much when Lean Nonien-Sing said Lieutenant Lieutenant. While Una is pleased to take over the advice of Lieutenant Colonel Spack and slowly approach the planet where Captain Pique (Anson Mount) and Dr. M'benga (Babes Glsanmokun) need rescue, so they do not cause an incident with a nearby Klingon ship.
She again challenges Una on the bridge, wondering why she is so worried about insulting the clingon and that is a clear moment of disrespect. The clingons solve the problem for her, however, noticing the slow company and raising their shields, forcing Una's hand. This means that Ortegas gets a chance to use (of course something careless) plan, and she gets the right moment to shine, which feels perfect for the pilot of the Pucc.
The company's pilot receives some great moments of character
While arguing with her superiors is not very typical of Ortegas, there are some great little characters spiced through the whole episode, even before she gets her footage in fame. During the staff meeting, when Una asks her if she ever made the maneuver she proposes, Ortegas responds quickly, "no, but I could." It is a pure pilot attraction and is perfect, because her confidence in her skills like a pilot is what she gets through the most stressful moments in the episode. Just as it managed to Overcome her serious wounds in "Hegemony, Part II" To help everyone escape, she manages to overcome her memories of those moments in order to use the ship in amazing ways.
The great heroic moment comes when Ortegas, with the assistance of Lieutenant Colonel Montgomery Scott (Martin Quinn), is inserted into the planetary orbit and flies together without hitting the thicker planetary atmosphere immediately below and shattering the ship, allowing the ship. No matter how fun she is, seeing that Ortegas kisses her fist and then swing the console twice before telling her colleague crew that it is "a ritual" and listens to her friend Niotta Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) Ortegas. I hope to see even more than her in the rest of the season and In the last two seasonsBecause she is well on her way to joining the ranks of all time great "Star Trek" characters.
