DOOM's first appearance in "Fantastic Four" in 1962 "Fantastic Four" #5 (from Stan Lee and Jackack Kirby) was quickly distributed with its origin. He was acquainted as an old student of Reed Richards, who was seduced by the dark arts, but how did he got up Doctor Doom was left unspoken. He also had a castle, but there was no mention that he was a real monarch.
The full origin of Lee and Kirby for DOOM came only in the "fantastic four annually" in 1964, #2. Victor von Dum was born in a poor Romanian tribe in Latever, who then ruled a cruel baron. Doom Werner's father failed to save Baron's terminally ill wife and froze to death trying to escape Baron's troops. Victor later left to educate in America, but we know how that turned out. After becoming a doctor Doom, Victor returned to Latveria and led the people in revolt against Baron. (Lee/Kirbi skipped this, but Ed Brubacker and Pablo Raimondi have expanded the 2005 "Books of the Accident" revolution into Latever's culmination.)
What is consistent is that the accident increased Latveria from a nation of back water in superpower. (He also renamed it to the capital of the Doomstadt nation.) Very Marvel's writers have different opinions about who really is behind his maskHowever, how Dum treats its subjects and how they feel about it can vary. Lee and Kirby said DOOM people respected him, but they were also afraid of his weather.
In the "Fantastic Four" #57, a citizen of Latverian gets into the accident; Doom is ready to record the clumsy "Claude", but cools his anger because he is trying to deceive the silver surfer to trust him.
Johnon BIRN's "Fantastic Four" has offered the modern takeover of the accident as, in the words of Marvel.com"Somewhere a well -intentioned dictator." In the previous story, "Fantastic Four" #200, F4 helped to deposit DOMM and put Zorba Fortunov - the last surviving successor to the royal family Laterian - on the throne. When F4 Latveria's next visit to "Fantastic Four" #246-247, our heroes are stunned that Latveria fell into ruin under the ruthless but incompetent leadership of Zorba, and the people want to come back. The doctor obliges them.
DOOM may be an autocrat that limits personal freedoms, but it retains its people safe and well -fed. He is like a strict father, while the whole Latveria is his beloved children (almost literally with Christophe Wernard, Latverian orom, whom Doom takes as his department). A lot of Best Stories for Doctor Doom Explore his leadership in Latveria - I hope "Avengers: Doomsday", which seems to be packed, does not leave this.
"Fantastic Four: First Steps" is played in cinemas.
