The writer's comedic styles, actor, stand-up comedian and executive producer Rami Youssef tend to be dressed in tragedy. His Serie A24 hulu "Rami" is as stunning as it is humorousFollowing his Egyptian-American protagonist Rami (Youssef) as he tries to manage his faith and identity to mostly tragic ends. Similarly, his executive produced A24 Netflix series "MO", For the MoD (Mi Amer), an undocumented descendant of Palestinian refugees living in Houston, it is also often sad because it faces the terrible reality of being undocumented in America. Both shows use a little surreal humor and absurdity to help make the more depressive elements a little more delicious and mix the comical and tragic tones, but the latest Youssef show brings this concept to new heights.

In the premiere video series of A24, "#1 Happy Family US", Youssef and co-creator Pam Brady tackled what was to grow up as an Egyptian-American Muslim child ahead of the terrorist attack on 11.09. Stand-up fans on yousef will definitely find some of his spicy jokes in the story, and there are shades of "Rami", but "#1 Happy Family The US" is truly unique animated comedy for adults with a unique perspective and much to say. Not only that, but (mostly) is less depressed than "Rami", which is definitely a plus.

The first episode of "#1 Happy Family US" is held on September 10, 2001, introducing us with the Hussein family as they try to assimilate American culture without losing their relationship with their heritage. After the 9/11 attacks, everything is changing, and the family becomes more desperate than ever. Patriarch Hussein Hussein (expressed by Youssef) is trying to be as patriotic for America as possible, while Mother Sharia (Salma Hindi) just wants the family to connect with her faith. The outer older sister Mona (Alia Shock) wants to be president of the class at any cost and is by far the most experienced in playing the system and switching codes to her benefit, while the younger brother Rumi (Youssef) mostly wants to take music illegally and masturbate in his room. Brady's co-creator is best known for his work at South Park, though she did Penkan is the scenario for the cult comedy "Hoteces rod", Both she and Youssef are definitely relying on many dirt and basser humor than in other Youssef plays.

"#1 Happy Family The US" is one part of the cruel comedy that comes to age and partly surreal to a specific part of life, although anyone who grew up in the early 2000s is sure to get some great nostalgic laughter. It's also really stinking funny.

One of the things that makes Rami so great is when the show expands to showing the perspectives of the Rami family, And the same goes for "#1 Happy Family US". Both Rumi and his father are interesting characters, but episodes around his mother, Sharia and Mona are particularly shocking, and voice casting is great. (I would be sorry, if I did not point out how great a Youssef is, because both characters, especially when he sings, yet.) Seeing Mona to try and understand how to move a girl while staying closed lesbian and also running for the president of the class is actually a kind of exciting in Sitkom. Side characters like the new, recently divorced FBI neighbor (Timothy Oliphant) and Shariria's dentist, who are trying to make them feel welcome with dressing in hijab (Chieran Kulkin) are funny, but the real heart of the series is the Hussein family.

In what is probably the best sequence of the show, Mona and her grandmother (Randa Arrarar) smoke hashish together and go on a psychedelic journey about what it means to be a Muslim. It is truly unexpected and sincerely pleasant, destroying certain stereotypes while subtly strengthens others. "#1 Happy Family The US" deserves all its critical praise and I hope more people can get involved and level before season 2, which is in production.
