"Star Trek" and "The Twilight Zone" invite a comparison. Both are an early science fiction TV that are still classics today. They did not actually air at the same time (the "twilight zone" led five seasons between 1959-1964, while Old Trek broadcast three seasons between 1966 and 1969), but retrospectively, they feel like products from the same TV. Both programs also reflected the social conscience of their creators, Rod Serling and Genin Bornboys, respectively, using scientific stories mostly as an allegory.

(The episode, written by Serling, was based on the story of the same name from the OMEEROM BIXBI.) The episode's monster is Anthony Fremont (Bill Mummy), a little boy, but a little boy, but no plain.
