Spoilers Follow the "Foundation" Season 3. If you do not want to destroy the surprises to come, leave the boat now.

Season 3 of the Foundation is here, and with that many celebrities. Harry Seldon (Aredard Harris) continues to lead the first basis of terminus. Gaal Dornik (Lou Lobel) returned from the cryogenic sleep and the thickness of the action. Lady Demercel (Laura Byrne) continues to control the imperial throne, and of course, the three clones (Lee Pace) are still doing their job as figures of the empire. This play has managed to maintain an excellent character consistency despite the ultimate lack of it in the original material (Encouraging the consistent question, how the hell even adjusts it?).

And yet they are not familiar persons but Unknown The one that is worth noting in the latest episode. Just three minutes in episode 2, "Math Shadows", we get a quick fire on how the second basis develops during the 151 year between season 2 (when the mental colony is set) and season 3. In the first sequence where Gaal wakes up, she is greeted by a woman who says, "wakes up, sleeping. It facilitates the neglect of the importance of this character, and for a few short minutes, we see that the starting first speaker is deleted, replaced by Premier Palver (Troy Cosor).

At first glance, this involves a feeling of weakness and irrelevance to the position. But nothing can be away from the truth. The first speaker is not just a spokesman for the second foundation, or someone to buddy Gal and Harry when they are not in crying. They serve a very important function, one that will grow only with time.

The first speaker is more than an administrative position. In Asimov's original books, this is the title given to the person in charge of monitoring the plan itself. In the show, this is overshadowed by the lasting involvement of Harry and Gal in the plot, but in the original version, Harry Seldon dies very early, and Gaal Doornik is an irrelevant character at the beginning of the story. By the time you get for hundreds of years in the narrative, Seldon's plan is progressing without its creator ... but it doesn't go alone. The second foundation is still part of the story (it's even the title of the third book in the series), and its leader, the first speaker, is the person who helps keeping things on the right track.

Premier Palver hints at this in the middle of episode 2, when he points out that while Gal was sleeping, he and his colleagues mentally withdrew the plan back on track, after decades that had been disturbing them decades ago. In reality, the first speakers do such things all the time. Their work is to understand the plan, to be sure that they are implemented and using their mental forces to delicious to intervene whenever needed. These guys are also mental heavy categories and mathematical geniuses. In the source material of Asimov, they are chosen on rotation only by individuals who are willing to take care of their Psychochistory (fictional science of Asimov that combines mathematics, history and psychology). In fact, the first speakers are so good at psychochistory that they must be able to contribute to Seldon's constantly developed and growing plan as a prerequisite for an office.

One of the major changes in the first speaker (and the whole second base) in the Apple TV+ version is their location. In the books, they are hidden on the imperial capital of the transformer itself, among the rubble of the defeated Empire. In the show, the empire is still alive, although not good, and the second foundation is on another planet. However, she continues to lead events from afar through her growing network of mental agents.

All this will come to the initial head with the upcoming (and slightly changed) galactic duel with the muzzy. But do not let the creator of the show David S. Goyer and the company to pull the wool over the eyes. In episode 2, when Gaal and Harry talk about crises before the latter mixed up from this death coil, they point to a future crisis of Seldon, the one that is inevitable if the muzzla is defeated.

While everything is focused on the stubborn character of the pile asbak that conquers the galaxy, the truth is, there is much more story to be told after this climb in Seldon's plan, and the first speakers will be in the central phase of the upcoming drama, as they run the second basis, the first basis, the first basis, the first basis.
