There are several franchises in the history of large multimedia franchises that can compete with that of the Jurassic Park. What began as a brilliant novel by the best -selling author Michael Creekton gave up on one of the most important blockbuster films ever made. From this writing, Jura's films have earned $ 6 billion on box office alone - and counting. It is just the tip of the iceberg, though, since the franchise includes animated TV shows, topic park attractions, goods and, for some time, comics.

At the height of Fever "Jurassic Part" after Steven Spielberg's classic hit in 1993 And it became the biggest film so far, Universal has begun to release a series of market binding products. It included several series of comics of Tops comics. It started with the adaptation of four editions of the film itself, which then gave way to several other series that will hit the shelves throughout the 1990s. Unfortunately, unless you were fortunate enough to bring back those comics during the day and keep them on, they are damaged almost impossible to read them today. So why is that true?

It's not a simple answer, but the short version is that publishers who deal with all the "Jurassic Park" comics are no longer in business and/or no longer have a franchise license. This is also the reason why certain video games based on a franchisee can sometimes not be sold through digital markets. These companies are given a license by rights owners, but once that license expires or it will be revoked, things are complicated.

That's why the only (legal) way to read any of the "Park Jurassic" comics is to find Brazenly overpriced physical copies of Amazon or eBay. They are not available to buy any digital stores. They can also be extinct.

Let's wind the watches a little. Tops Comics itself began in 1992 in response to the boom of the comics the industry experienced at the time. Most people know Tops from their trading cards, such as "attacks on Mars!" And many others. But for some time the company entered the comic book business and they held the license for Park Jurassic, announcing various titles in the universe from 1993 to 1997.

Although they had some originals, much of the Tops business comes from licensed comics. Aside from the Park Jurassic adapt, the company has released several other books, including the Raptor series, an unofficial sequel to a variety of "Returning to the Jura Park", "Jurassic Park Adventures", and adaptation of the "lost world" in '97. However, to a great extent, these books have told a story.

"Tops was infected with the number one virus, where, because #1 is selling well, you are trying to have as much as possible," explained writer Steve Englehart of his Web site. "So, after the two-piece raptor, we had a four-part" Raptors "attack, kidnapping four-part from the Raptors, an eight-part return to the Jurassic Park ... I was convinced that each group culminated, but really, it's a continuous story."

These comics were a way to extend the scope of the franchise, not unlike how The comic books "War of Starwives" offer hardcore fans something out of movies. It is a key part of many franchises and, for some time, it was for "Jurassic Park". These books are a fascinating time capsule and someone would think we're talking about a $ billion franchise that would be available. Unfortunately, this is not the world we live in.

The 90's was one of the biggest decades ever for comics, creating a comic book image and other competitors of Marvel and DC. That's why Tops got into business. Unfortunately, however, the bubbles eventually burst and the comic books of Tops went to the stomach in '98. So the publisher behind these books no longer existed and they had no home. For a long time, things remained.

In the 2010s, the "Park Jurassic" license found a new home thanks to people in IDV publishing. IDW is known for posting "Star Trek" comicsAmong many other licensed books, so it seemed good for the future of this particular property. It is worth noting that this was a strange time because we had been removed from Jurassic III for years, but still years away from the "Jurassic World". The franchise was largely asleep.

IDW changed it by publishing several series from 2010 to 2013, including "Jurassic Park: Remunor" in 2010, which focused on Tim and Lex Murphy Trying to pick up where their grandfather Johnon Hammond left with an opening a theme park of the dinosaur in Texas. IDV also reported "Park Jurassic: Devils in the Desert" and "Park Jurassic: Dangerous Games". Both were original stories.

Perhaps more importantly, IDV was given the opportunity to re -publish all the comics of Tops Jurassic Park in new editions. The company did just that, collecting books in five different volumes of four editions called "Classic Jura Park". These are also almost impossible to find today. Every comic book "PE" from IDV, and the original series and Tops collected releases, has not been in print for years. They are also not available to buy digitally.

The latest news for any comic book "Jura Park" of any kind came in 2016 when IDW announced them during the San Diego comic book panel that the new comic book "Jura World" will come in 2017 (through Bleeding cool). That never happened. As far as we know, so far, Universal has no plans to publish new comics within the franchise and IDV no longer has a license.

I cannot comment on the quality of many of these stories, nor to dive into the heinous details even if you would like because, as we mentioned, they are no longer available - unless you are lucky enough to stumble upon the physical copy at a reasonable price in the wild, which is unlikely. We can only hope that Universal will eventually decide that it will be worth making these books again available one day. For the time being, they remain relics of the past, not unlike dinosaurs bones in dirt or mosquitoes fossilized in Amber.
