Theujork Times recently conduct a survey Demanding famous directors, actors and writers to name the best films of the century ever. From Pedro Almodivar to "Story of the West Side" and Starvala "Snow White" Rachel ZaglerThe Times asked dozens of dozens of famous people about their favorite feature films released in 2000 and then collected their answers in the Top 100 list (ranked with which the films received the most votes). The survey was very similar to the Sight & Sound polls once every decade, only limited to releases of the last 25 years and invited a different team of directors, writers and directors to participate. (The type and sound invites both critics and essayists.)
As for this writing, it can be seen that many of the top 10 lists submitted by the participants and, boy Haudi, are interesting than the choice. Alex Winter, the film on the films "Bill and Ted" and director of "Friday", "Zappa" and "The Effect of YouTube" cited a recent Romanian comedy "bad luck shaking or poor porn" as one of the best of the century, while Almodivar cited "Ida", "Dogtout", and "Ten" by Abbas Kiarostami. To choose a few more by accident, Ianuliana Moore cited the "phantom thread" and "40-year-old virgin", while Karin Kusama was the Fondicor of "Arrival", "Mandi", "Under the Skin" and "Social Network".
Starwater horror, Steven King, was also surveyed, naturally, and his elections were perhaps a little more than most, with a few hits of Oscar's box office and milla. King enjoyed Ridley Scott's "Black Down", Ang Lee's "Mountain", Martin Scorsese Mountain, "The Departed", "Cohen Bros.". One-two-stroke from "Oh brother, where are you?" and "No country for old people" and "Openheimer" by Christopher Nolan. The only horror films on his list were "Train to Busan" and New Zealand's thriller in 2025 "Rule of Enenia Pen" (which features one of Johnon Litgov's biggest performances).
His list also included a film directed by - and starred - Clint Eastwood. No, not "space cowboys".
Steven King wants a million dollars baby
The fruitful directorial production of Eastwood of the 21st century has increased both in political strength and to the tonal measure. His films tend to be very laid and emotionally disarmament. Often, Eastwood will make films that are compassionate on the right -wing wing, having several features for honest, valuable Americans who have been attacked and deceived by a "big government" system. Impressively, Eastwood has directed 19 features in the last 25 years, starting with "Space Cowboys" and continues until recently, "juror #2". Some were legitimate great movies, while others were completely stinking. (None Really liked "J. Edgar" or "Jerseyers' guys").
"Million Dollars Baby", which made the top 10 King's list, was awarded Mila after announcing in 2004, winning the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Hillary Swan) and Best Support Actor (Morgan Freeman). Also, it was a huge hit, earning $ 231.9 million in box office against a $ 30 million budget. She tells the story of the aspiring boxer named Maggie (Swank) while she is looking for a burnt coach for a boxing coach named Frankie (Eastwood). They recognize it in his career, she is on his way, while he is on his way down. However, he trains so well that Maggie begins to knock out his selected opponents with one blow. This is when the plot takes a dramatic turn, leaving Frankie to take care of Maggie in a way that none of them expected or planned. "Million Dollar Baby" has an intense tragic end, the one who leaves the audience using many tissues on the way out.
This was a surprising choice for King, who, if used the filmmaking of Eastwood, could easily choose a film like "Mystic River", "Letters from Ivo IMaima", "Further" or "Grand Turin" (some of the director's best films). Instead, he chose a great Hollywood melodrama, something that feels like he can come out in the 1930s (despite the occasional F-bomb). King has not clarified his choice and there are no essays to accompany his list.
Of course, maybe The man behind the "Life of Chuck", "Stand by me" and "The Shawshank Redemption" there is only a sentimental side.
