Through four films released over more than a decade, "Deadly Weapons" has been cemented as a consistent and wild fun franchise. In fact, despite Mel Gibson's questions over the years, There is still talk of possible "deadly weapons 5" to this day -today. Whether that happens is another theme, but in the light of the continued popularity of the films, it may not be surprising that Fox brought Riggs and Murtau to the small screen starting in 2016 with "Letter Weapons" TV series.
In actress Clane Crawford like Martin Riggs and Damon Vejans as Roger Murtaug, the show was a hit outside the Fox gate, just to cancel the series after three seasons in 2019. Diversity Reported at that time, it was at least partly as a result of fairly steep grades. Season 3 brought just over 3 million overall spectators per episode, a big drop in season 2 (which had an average of just over 4 million). Season 1, meanwhile, had an average of 6.5 million overall spectators, so the play was absolutely on the wrong track.
However, it was far more complicated than the simple question of the ratings. Crawford was fired from "Later Weapons" after the second season of the showfor one. The actor reportedly created a hostile work environment and received complaints about emotional abuse. It was all very complicated and messy, with both sides having a lot to say about what went down and how it all shook. Crawford, at the time, apologized for his actions, saying the following:
"I am amazingly sorry if my passion for doing a good job ever made someone feel less than comfortable in our set or feel less than celebrating their efforts. In addition, I apologize to all the crew and thrown for any negative attention" deadly weapon "for these incidents."
The aircraft weapon was too problematic to stay in the air
Old William Scott ("American Pie") was brought about "deadly weapons" season 3 to replace Crawford. Instead of completely replacing him as Riggs, however, Scott played a new character named Wesley Cole. It was a big change that viewers had to get used to. In addition, Wianans also revealed that he would leave the show after season 3, expressing his frustration from production. As the actor explained in an interview for 2018 Eurweb:
"I am leaving the show in December, after finishing the initial 13. So, I really don't know what they are planning, but that's what I plan. I'm a 58-year-old diabetic and working 16 hours."
The drama outside the Crawford screen, Wayne was unhappy with his immediately, after he was allegedly hit by a piece of shrapnel while filming an episode directed by Crawford, and people who watched at home had to get used to the new character played by Scott, all made the situation incredibly heavy. In February 2019, /The movie spoke with producer Matt Miller about the show's themesAnd he had the following to say about Crawford:
"He was in a bad situation with what happened. I know it's hard for him. I feel like I can't comment on because to comment on it is to go down a very slippery slope. So, I've taken the high way of the whole thing and I haven't talked about it. I really can't say anything."
In the end, even if Fox was able to persuade Vejans to stay, the net struggled with a tough battle. The show's estimates have dropped at an alarming rate and the return of viewers after giving up the series is damn almost impossible. Unfortunately, this show only seemed cursed behind the scenes, so the cancellation was the only outcome.
