Charlize Theron could end his career with this treasurer

Like the most recognizable movie stars, it took many years for Charlize Theron to become an overnight sensation. Her first film role was that of an unnamed, non-speaking additionally in the SLASHER SEQUER by Jameseims Dr. Hikox in 1995 "Children from Corn III: Urban Harvest", well remembers the film Theron. She chased it with the Neo-Neoar's Neoir in 1996 "2 Days in the Valley", in which she played Gangster's girlfriend, shown by the Jamesim Spider. With the foot studio's foot, she began appearing in several public editions with a high profile like "Judicial and Error" and "What You Do! After that, she was a pretty celebrity.

That same year she was in an "urban harvest", though Teron had the opportunity to put his career on a very different way. She went on audition for director Paul Verkhoven, who has just scored big hits with a "total reminder" and "basic instinct" and aimed to make a wonderful, big budget music/dance project that aimed to wake up Hollywood Zaeishist. Verkhoven and his screenwriter, Oeo Ezarhas, wanted to make a movie that was loaded with sex and nudity, hoping to normalize the adult mainstream stories in the American mainstream.

Unfortunately, their film - "Showgirls" - was a notorious bomb Critics missed it. He just made about $ 38m in box office against a $ 40m budget and became a punk line for decades, shown as one of the worst studio films for years. "Showgirls" starred Elizabeth Berkeley, who was best known for her role as a friendly to the "Bellvon" family. Many were shocked to see the kit, sniffing coca and constantly encouraged.

In 2015, Verkhoven recalled Theron's audition to play the lead in Showgirls during an interview with Dailyujork daily news. He agreed that she had escaped a bullet.

Cherlize Theron audited to play nomi minone in Showgirls

The role of Nomi Malone is, should be noticed, highly sought after. It included a lot of naked dancing, tons of makeup, great emotional changes and a few scenes of violence. Berkeley threw himself in the section, though she was clearly targeting "going big", pushing her performance in the high camp area. Since then, the over-the-turn melodrama and numerous quantities of gender and nudity have gained the "show" of cult; Some fans (including this author) can quote the terrible scenario of the film in length. After the failure of "Showgirls", however, Berkeley had to suffer a serious career review. No studio would have hired her, so she started studying acting again and wearing roles on stage and in smaller indie films. Berkeley certainly respected her craft, but it took her many years to accept that the show had a cult.

Verkhoven remembered that Teron turned to Nomi while talking to New York Daily News. "Charlize was also audited," he explained, "I don't remember having no problem with nudity. She was good and wanted the part, but basically, she wasn't well known at the time and just didn't match the section. So we said no." Indeed, Berkeley had a professional career to be built at that moment, while Theron was just a quiet teenager from "Corn III children". Hence, Berkeley was a wiser choice.

However, Verkhoven admitted that the media was very cruel for Berkeley after "Showgirls" and was sure Theron, regardless of the quality of her performance, would have to endure the same thing. As he said:

"I have full respect for Charlize, but if she was offered the part, then she would probably chew in the same way as she treated Elizabeth. She was very lucky that she didn't get the part. I wish I had to congratulate Charlize for her for 20 years for her!"

Of course, it cannot be said with certainty whether unknown would survive or advance thanks to "Showgirls".

Theron did not forget the audition of the show

At the time, Theron probably felt deleted because he did not land the lead in "Showgirls". That would certainly be her big breakthrough in the movies, especially since she was only 19 years old when she happened. In contrast, Berkeley was 23.

Talking to Case/Aphtra In 2018, Theron confirmed that she also remembers her audition "Showgirls". The actor admitted that he was terrible at auditions, adding that "Showgirls" was just her second audition so far. She didn't get the role, but the film's casting director, Johanna Ray, was really impressed by her. Theron, for his part, said she could not, for her life, understand what Ray saw, because her audition had false Polish dancing (something she felt had done very bad). However, Ray introduced Teron to the talent agent, Jey Harris, and Harris was led by Theron's career in the right direction. Theron noted that Harris was kind of her mentor and "changed her (her) career" because the couple continued to work together for 20 years.

In fact, Harris received the Teron audition for "2 days in the valley" and the rest is history. In 1999, Theron will continue to act against Tobey Maguier in "Apple House rules" (A film that won a pair of awards at the Academy) before lowering her first Oscar-and win-in 2003 nomination for her performance by playing a serial killer in real life, Ailin Varnos at Monster. Since then, Teron has continued to star in Prestige Pictures, Monster High Octane Movies and Blockbusters.

Meanwhile, Berkeley continued to work, and even appeared opposite Theron in the 2001 film Woody Allen "The Curse of Adeide Scorpion". She also played a noticeable role in the excellent "Roger Doger" and a very good sex comedy "Womennians in Trouble", playing repeated parts of "CSI: Miami" and "Word L" and appeared many times in performances by London West End and Broadway. Berkeley still has no Oscar nominations, but she's busy.
