According to Gibson, the Cherry Red Es-345 is either a model of 1960 or 1961. The guitar has no serial number for authentication, but there is one detail that makes this particular guitar out of all the other: the 12th fret had a gold lane marker on it, instead of the normal split parallelogram inlay to go completely within the board. This unique signifier is what the team calls a "smoking gun" that will tell them they have found the right guitar.

Despite their difficulty finding it so far, the team believes they will eventually locate the guitar. Agnies said that "Japanese theory" is the most likely truth, given how popular they are vintage guitars in the country and have Gibson's international teams in hunting.

While this search is fun marketing, for director Krocner, it is really about reuniting Fox with this guitar, or just for an hour or maybe forever:

"My hope would be whoever has this guitar is a fan enough of the movies to allow it to happen. There are many possible scenarios. Is the person who wants to find himself? Do they want, say, to borrow our guitar?"

That's not to say whoever has a guitar, you have to hand it to nothing but charity. Angeli added that he was "an absolutely 100 percent ready to start talking to anyone who appears who may have a potential guitar", allowing Gibson to add to his collection.

Any vintage model of that guitar would be worth between $ 25,000 and $ 50,000, so the guitar itself is literally priceless. Happy hunting, all!
