Columbus inspired a hit spin-off series with Kerry Preston

Everyone wants a pleasant mystery. There is nothing like bending with a warm blanket and a mystery show that wraps the things of each episode, following an unusual mystery-raised one or another. Whether we follow someone like the author of the mystery of murder, Essesica Fletcher (Angela Lansbury) of "Murder, she wrote" or Traveling Truth Short Story Charlie Kale (Natasha Lyon) of "Poker Face", There is only something about the pleasant mysteries that calm the soul. Now, there is another great cozy mystery series that has joined the crew: "Elbow", starring Carey Preston as a titular crime. The CBS show is actually a spin-off of the "Good Wife" and "Good Struggle", where Preston originally played an unconventional lawyer for Chicago, Elsbet Tassioni. However, in her series, the character works with the Yorkyor Police Department to solve crimes instead of prosecuting them.

Elsbet is praised by critics that it is a fun procedural that uses the inverted format of the story of the detective best known from the classic Columbus series. Indeed, in an interview for DiversityCo-creators and writers of the series Michelle and Robert King have confirmed that Columbus is a massive inspiration behind the show's creation.

Elsbet channels comfort TV like Columbus

Michelle King explained that the idea for the show came when she and Robert King were walking their old favorite TV shows while stuck together during Kovid-19 2020:

"We watched a lot of comfort TV, and comfort felt like" Columbus "and that cozy mystery than ... 10-hour movie, which is what some of these streaming shows pretend to be."

By solving the mystery every episode and not having great cliffhangers at the ends of episodes, shows like Columbus and Elsbet give a real sense of pleasure. Not only that, but they also make a nice little escape from reality at the beginning, secondary and end, something that often feels lost in the streaming era, as shows try to keep the viewers who see. Instead, the Kings created a pleasant mystery in the form of a "Columbus" that gives up on the wildly popular universe "Good Wife" (who Even has a remake k-drama), and we are all better for that. Elsbet follows Preston's unusual title, as it helps solve crimes every week using its unique view of the world, accompanying a long line of potentially neurodivergent detectives and non-prepared detectives that make the mysteries of murder.

Elsbet is a pleasure because it is different

Columbus at Columbus's Peter Folk was an unusual, and although Preston never saw the series before joining Elbow, she ended up looking at her to prepare for her role. Columbus is a kind of plan for not only pleasant protagonists for mystery, but also for super weird and often neurodi -diverging solutions for mystery. (Although Columbus inspired a number of shows and movies, it only had A kind of official spin-off on her own, "Mrs. Columbus".) While the team behind Elsbet is hesitant to put labels on nothing, fans wondered if Elsbet was a neurodigent because of its habits and the way she paid attention to the details.

Similar to Morgan (Caitlin Olson) of the funny hit procedural "high potential" or Monk (Tony Shallub) of the long -standing series "Monk", Elsbeth definitely represents people who think and act a little differently, and it is very fun to see that he resolves crimes and help catching the bad man while he remains faithful to himself. Preston has clearly understood the task because "Elsbet" is a sweet, unusual explosion.
