Karate Kid in 2010 opened $ 55 million on the road to $ 359 million worldwide against a very reasonable $ 40 million production budget. Hope is that Sony retained the budget in the same range for this latest record, offering a similar path to success. For context, that film made about half of its global transportation abroad.

Will Cobra Kai hurt or help Karate Kid: Legends?

As the trailers promised about "Karate Kid: Legends"The new film will be returned by Ralph McCio as Daniel Laruso along with Mr -Hahn's Jackki Chan from the 2010 Restarting/Remake to Train a New Blend played by Ben Wang. The elephant in the room this time around is "Cobra Kai". The show was a huge hit for Netflix and invited a new generation of fans to the "Karate Child" universe. But save on McCio's participation, this new movie is not explicitly tied to that show. For example, Nyoni Lawrence on William's tooth is not included. So will the show fans appear? That's the big question and that can be the element for making or pause.

We have already seen movies like "Final Destination Blood Lines" over-performance at box office this summer In no small part because the audience was underestimated. Is the Fan -Base "Cobra Kai" out of larger than expected numbers? Maybe. If so, this may mean that these tracking numbers are on the low side. But if the fans of the show do not feel forced or that "we have a karate child at home" line of thinking? Sony may drastically calculate the demand for this film.

At the end of the day, as long as Sony retained the budget below $ 70 million or the like, this film will be relatively safe in the long run if these opening numbers are held. Whether it's a hit or not? It will rely on a good word and Cobra Kai fans gather around it. SeeEe see how it all shakes.
