Season 6 disrupted Nick's transition. Nick wanted to whisk June in Paris, completely ignoring - and didn't care about - the June mission to release Gilead. The mother of June and Luke also warned her that Nick was a Nazi. The series awaits this message at home when we learn that Nick is directly responsible for Jezebels to be arranged and carried out by waste. At this point, June sleeps with the enemy trying to get off.

The showers point out that "Nick had many opportunities to go and leave with June. He is in Canada and he made the choice again and time to return to Gilead and double to Gilead." When Nick pulls on the plane to Washington DC and refers to other commanders as "winners", he is no longer a desirable figure playing for both sides. He clarifies his faithfulness and proves as weak as other men who need to feel powerful by harming others.

The plane's blast completely destroys every hubb for the Luke team against the Nick team. It is the way the series tells us that under this violent oppressive Patriarchate, a well -old trianglebed triangle and happily ever after. Nick's fate makes us rethink if the end of June will include romance.

Max Mingela told Elie that he was surprised by the end of Nick:

"I have always seen the relationship in June and Nick as a kind of return from the darker, more intense elements of the show. So I thought it was a truly bold and interesting choice to bring that story into this more nihilist view."

Nick helped June experience sex during her slavery that was not disturbed by pain and attack. June did not know if she would see Luke again, so her romance with Nick was a bright light in Gilead's darkness. Their intensive connection has become so strong than the motivator as well as the savings of Hannah.

June was the only woman with whom Nick had a relationship while she was forced to marry others. While these pressures were stressful, Gilead men have freedom and upward mobility. The tragedy with Sezebelles gave us a look at the Gestapo -like orders, of which Nick is probably part of. Nick's death is symbolic of Gilead's end of June. After Nick clarified his fidelities, it was the only way June could have been really free.

Even if June and Luke "finish together", there is so much trauma among them that renewing a peaceful life will be much more important than repeating romance. So many since June decisions during the series have been around for men - men have been chosen for her, and her choices to survive in a world built by and for them. Now it's time for June to give up a woman and a lube and define herself out of the boxes in which men put them; Gilead's hodoon and women have already learned that they are much more than that.
