Heavy spoilers Next for the "last of us" season 2, Episode 6.
For the most part, HBO's "Last of Us" acts as a close replica of the naughty dog game of the same name, created by Neil Drakman and Bruce Stralley. Many scenes are remake one-on-one, which is Perfect if you are looking for expensive video for a walkBut there is no surprise to those even slightly familiar with the plot of the games. And yet, occasionally, the show offers a change from its source of material - a deviation that shows the potential of the world to tell other types of stories from what players have already experienced.

Changes like Bill's story and Frank, or Changes in the image of Tommy (Gabriel Luna) who have large repercussions for second season themes All that makes this great TV show despite being an accurate adaptation. These changes allow the TV show to use its media to tell a story that relies less on the Player Agency and more of the story and performances.
Similar to the brilliant idea to take many tiny characters of Bill in the game and turn his story into a beautiful story of Loveub and sadness in the first season, season 2 of "The Last of Us" occupies a similar smaller character and turns it into a key part of the bigger season. This time, that role belongs to Eugene, a character we never see in the game "The Last of Us Part II", just hearing that he was a patrol living in Acksecson and who died at the age of 73 from a stroke (always to hear about someone who dies for natural reasons).

But that's not exactly what is happening in HBO's "Last of Us". Here, Eugene plays OEO Pantoliano, and his story is far tragic. Since the beginning of the season we knew that in the TV adaptation, Elloel (Pedro Pascal) was the one who killed Eugene, causing Eugene's wife, Gale (Catherine O'Hara), hates Elloel with passion. In episode 6, we actually see that death happened.
Eugene's death is also the death of ELOEL and Eli's relationship
During the patrol, Elloel and Eli (White Ramsey) found Eugene him alone in the woods, his companion dead, and bitten the infected himself. He is not trying to deny it, but knowing he will die, Eugene requires one last benefit: to be taken to the main port of Acksecson for a chance to say goodbye to Gail before he dies. He has time and has things to tell them. Elloel wants to kill him immediately, but Eli said in his name, so Elloel agrees, promising to kill Eugene and get to know Eli down the road while finding his horses.

Of course, Eloel is lying. He takes Eugene to clear up with a beautiful view of the lake and asks if he has the last words to Gail. Eugene corrected him, saying he needed Her Last words to himBecause he is terrified and needs his wife. But this is the eloel we are talking about, The guy who massacred a hospital full of people and robbed humanity with a potential remedy for the zombie apocalypse. Knowing fully, he lied to Eugene's face and his surrogate daughter, he shoots at Eugene, and then continues to lie to Gail and said Eugene was brave and finished things himself. However, Eli is better than this, so he exposes Elloel and tells Gale the truth about how Eloel broke his promise.
It's a relatively minor change, as Eugene is probably far from the only person Eloel had to kill him because of the bite while living in Acksecson. What makes this change important for the show at all is what it means to the relationship of Eli and Elloel. This is a key moment when everything is changing for them, and the moment Eli begins to doubt everything Everel has ever said, including what happened in Salt Lake City. This is why their relationship was so tight when we saw the two in the first episode of the season. It all changed with a man who wanted to see his wife.
