Why Chuck Lore's controversial slot was canceled

It is clear that it is not all that comes from gold King of Sitkoms, Jacques Lore. The veteran TV producer and writer may have produced such hits as "Big Bang theory", "Two and a Half Men" or "Communist Method", but also had its fair stake in the wrong steps. According to some critics and spectators, one of them is the short -lived series of comedy "The United States of Al", created by David Gats and Maria Ferrari, with Lore serving as a shower and executive producer for the two years that was at CBS between 2021 and 2022.

The plot focused on the friendship between the marine veteran, Riley (Parker Young) and the Afghan translator Avalmir Aka Al (Adir Kaljan), who served together in the same unit while in Afghanistan. Of course, the show comes after their service as the two reunited, with Al arriving in the United States to live with Riley and his father, Art (Dean Norris), in Columbos, Ohio. Since Al slowly adapts to American lifestyle, he grows closer and closer to his friend's family. Soon he learns that his friend is going through a divorce with his wife Vanessa (Kelly Goss), and since then, he has been doing his goal to help the couple restore his Loveub, trying to bring them back together, while also serving as a system of emotional support for Riley, who is suffering from PSD. "Young Sheldon", this show wasn't.

The United States Al was canceled due to average rating and poor US-Ajuganian relations show

No matter how light and well -intentioned she tried to be the show, she could not avoid the minefield that was inherently embedded in her premise. This certainly did not help that Al was shown by a non-Afghan actor (Kaljan was born in South Africa in an Indian-South African family), even if there were five additional Afghan characters in the series playing true Afghan actors beside him, and hired four Afghan writers to help. But mainly, it was too stereotyped and was not funny enough to survive. As a critic Diane Gordon wrote"The heart of the show seems to be in the right place. For what is worth, Hollywood continues to fight in this arena.

Thus, it is no surprise that the rating of the sithom was mainly reduced after two seasons, making it difficult for CBS to find reasons to keep it in the air longer. So they don't. In May 2022, "the United States of Al" was unintentionally canceled. Although the basic fan -base of the show made the decision to the heart and fiercely pleaded for her return, the finals of Season 2 - which had no real closure - it probably marked the end of the sitom forever. Maybe it's a little comfort for those who loved the program, but co-creator Maria Ferrari did elaborate in an interview with TV line to what could have happened in potential season 3.
