"The Last of Us" is a heart attack show, a gloomy, post-apocalyptic drama for infected (Don't call them zombies) where death is at every corner. From the first episode, where we see that ELOEL (Pedro Pascal) loses its only child tragically, the audience was forced to get used to anyone. All we met would probably be killed, whether they were ELOEL's old friends, Eli's first crush (white Ramsey) or friendly strangers they met on the road. No one was safe.

Season 2, however, only took that idea away from ever, with the second episode, no doubt, the most shocking and emotionally thicker moment of the whole show - a moment that echoes the shock and heart attack of the wound "Game of Thrones". It comes during what is already a pretty shocking, violent, yet spectacular story, with Acksecson attacked by a horde of surprisingly smart infected. Looking at Acksexone, a safe shelter and a seemingly community in the apocalypse of Cordyceps, which is not led by cannibals or dictators, destroyed in an attack like this is scary.

And yet, it is not a shocking and emotionally devastating moment in the episode. He comes when Elloel is brutally beaten to death and eventually stabbed with a broken golf -club from Abi (Caitlin Dever).

It's a moment gamers are afraid of posting on the TV adaptation, and the one that led to many Extremely stupid controversy about AbiBoth in the game and when Caitlin Dever was thrown as a live version. And yet, it is a moment that fits perfectly with the ethos of "the last of us". No, Eloel did not deserve to be killed that way. And yet, he definitely had what was coming to the life he lived.

HBO's "Last of Us" makes a lot of changes in its adaptation. Ever since the first episode, where we get a prologue for a scientist warning of fungi, the play knows where to expand and where to correct the game. Case in point, Season 2 begins with Abi and her friends who complain about the death of fireflies in the hands of ELOEL and the swearing of revenge. This is a very different approach from the game, which only Abi appeared suddenly and brutally killed ELOEL for seemingly no reason, With gamers only later reveal their judgment.

Including Abi's motivation so early in the show forces the audience to consider the fact that Elloel not only saved Eli from the murder, he killed friends, spouses, brothers and sisters and parents. Each of them was supposed to have someone who took care of them like Eloel for Eli and who would like to take revenge for their beloved. Did Abi had to kill ELOEL? Of course not, but it is perfectly understandable that if she was the protagonist of the "last of us", we would take root to hunt Johel, no matter what is needed.

This is the key to the TV adaptation and why it makes ELOEL's death feel more thematically influential than the game: from the opening stage, the show does not allow ELOEL or the audience to forget what he did. Instead of just dealing with shock value, the TV "The Last of Us" makes Eloel's death as inevitability, with the first two episodes to make sure they let ELOEL turn off the hook for his past actions.

Throughout the whole first episode, it is clear that something is measured by Eloel, and is not only the fact that his relationship with Eli has been used. He even goes to Gail (Catherine O'Hara) therapy, which can clearly say that there is something big to worry. By the time Elloel realizes that Abi's group is firefly, there is a look at the resignation of his eyes, as if all these years were known that in the end what happened in Salt Lake City would attract him. When Abi tells him who she is, Eloel is not interested in hearing any great speeches, he just wants to kill her anymore and do it.

It is a strict difference from how the game starts. The premiere of Season 2 of "The Last of Us", before we meet Abi, begins with an ELOEL's brief retrospective lying on Eli for what happened at the hospital. This is similar to the beginning of the game, making a brief report on the first game events. The difference is that Eloel tells that scene of the opening, as his brother Tommy tells what happened at the hospital, and instead explicitly said he shot a bunch of people, he only said he saved Eli.

ELOEL knows the price he paid to preserve his surrogate daughter, but starting from ELOEL's point of view and he justifies his actions, and the game and ELOEL surpasses what happened. It deletes part of his guilt in order for the audience to sympathize with him before he was brutally killed.

It is commendable that the show, having Pedro Pascal and his beautiful face that is easily accessible, would choose instead to keep ELOEL in the length of the ARM for most of the first episode. In addition, the first two episodes naturally continue to increase what they did, even if the characters do not always say it out loud. "The Last of Us" does not allow Elloel to deliver the hook, but forces the audience to think about Salt Lake City every time he is on the screen, predicting his counting. "The Last of Us" are great games (so good that You cannot blame Pedro Pascal for ignoring orders and trying to play), but decisions on how this help to justify the adaptation of TV and feel like having their own identity.

Elloel did not deserve to be brutally killed, especially by being forced to see. And yet, at the moment when Eloel decided that Eli's life was worth killing 18 soldiers and one doctor, he sealed his fate. The one seeking revenge digging two graves, or in the case of "the last of us", much more. Now, just like Eloel's actions have inevitably led to Abi's way of revenge, her murder of Eloel lit a vengeance fire in Eli. It seems that the cycle is obliged to repeat.
