Why the series “War of Starvars” wouldn't exist without a baby Yoda

We have to wait until next year to see the "war of the Starvali" to go back to the big screen, but the Galaxy is far back to television later this month when Andor Season 2 arrives at Disney+. Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor to finish what he started in Rogue One as early as 2016 (and, more precisely, that began in 2022 when he debuted the first season of the show). For many fans and critics, "Andor" is the best of what the "Starwell War" had to offer on television to this day. That said, the creator of the show, Tony Gilroy, deserved his existence of no one other than Baby Yoda himself, Aka Groogo.

In a recent interview for EmpireGilroy discussed Andor Season 2 before his Disney premiere+ later this month. During the conversation, Gillroy explained that the "Mandalorie", which was the first live show of the "War of the Starvers", has helped open the way for other series like "Andor" to exist:

"Mandalorian's success gave us the platform to jump. Their success is what will encourage the whole thing. I mean, no baby yoda, not "Andor". Seriously.

In case you forget, Baby Yoda was presented at the end of Mandalorian's first episode. Long before he has an official name, his presence has set the show for success because he offers an instant intrigue (and shortening) to go along with Pedro Pascal's mando. It was the perfect scenario yin and yang. The "Mandalorian", as a whole, also could not be different from "Andor". But it served as evidence of a concept, cementing that "War of Starwells" live can exist in a mass level made for TV.

"We were protected until the line," Gilroy added. "(Lucasfilm President Katie (Kennedy) Protects us. Lucasfilm protected us. Bob Iger protected us. The audience protected us.

Mandalorian proved that live wars with action can work on the small screen

Things have evolved a lot in Disney and Lucasfilm since the 2019 Mandalorian premiere. Streaming has become a dominant force in the media. At the same time, studios realize that spending endlessly on streaming is not a great long -term business strategy. Meanwhile, we didn't have a new movie "Starwalks War" The "rise of Skywalker" arrived in December 2019.

It is scheduled to change in 2026 when Mandalorian and Groogo hit theaters. Indeed, director Jonon Javre brings the title of the world of streaming on a large screen near you, illustrating how successful Mandalorian is. Gilroy, speaking further, explained that certain fans are trying to choose sides between the likes of Andor and Mandalorian. However, in his mind, it's a shame:

"The internet, (people) are trying to run a wedge all the time between us and (Jonon) Favre and (Dave) Philoni. It is terrible that people say; it's scary. And the truth is, we have no idea without them. They gave us the muscle to go."

"Starwell War" can and should consist of different flavors for different fans. There is no reason why we cannot have things as a "skeleton team" and "Andor". It is a large galaxy and there should be room for various types of stories. "Mandalorian" was just the beginning; It didn't have to be a template for every show that followed.

Concerning Andor Season 2, it's one of the most expensive things "War on Starwells". It will also conclude the series, despite the fact that it initially had a five -season plan. "No one will ever start a show on this scale, and shoot it practically, and there are resources and protection to do this," Gilroy added.
