In the first episode of Dystopian corporate drama of Dan Erikson "North", A woman named Heli R. (Brit Lower) wakes up on a chart for corporate meetings to the indigen. She is dressed in office clothing, yet there is no memory of how she got there. Intercom's voice presented himself as Mark (Adam Scott) and begins talking to Helly's disturbing friendly. In the end, it was explained to Heley - and, with the sequel, viewers - that she was "cut off". She now works for Lumon, a company that conducts a revolutionary medical technique in the balance sheet-the life of their employees. While they are in the office, a chip built into their brains will block all memories of the outside world. When they leave the office, the chip turns off, leaving them unable to remember any of their day in Lumon.

This, of course, causes the people of Lumon's staff to wake up. The office workers, nicknamed "Inia", have no knowledge of their own outside, leaving them to find out who they are through their relationships. Meanwhile, all "top" have very good reasons to want to forget eight hours of life every day. Over time, Helly and Mark learn to trust each other, as well as their two other office comrades: Irving (Johnon Turturo) and Dylan (Zack Cherry).

Show creator Dan Ericsson is very open to pop cultural titles and Real life experiences that inspire "cutting off" and hosted a session of but on Reddit As early as 2022 let's talk about the series and some of his original ideas about it. However, Ericsson later re -examines, feeling that Mark should be firmly established until we meet him and already know who his associates are. Indeed, Mark is promoted to the director of his department as the pilot gathered, giving him work knowledge of Lumon. Then Ericsson again wrote the script to be Helly to be the one who for the first time just woke up on the cut floor. As he noticed on Reddit:
