Fun Trivia: Matt Groning named Simpsons' characters after his family. His father got his name Homer, and has two little sisters named Lisa and Maggie. His mother was named Margaret, and her unmarried surname was Wiggum. He has an older sister named Patty, who is also the name of one of Marge Simpson's older sisters. Groning's grandfather was named Abram, who was replaced in Abraham for the old Patriarch Simpson. Of course, Matt was the congestion for Bart Simpson, the family's brother's brother.

It can be easy to forget that the "Simpsons", long before becoming a decades-long institution, should have been a punk de-construction of the traditional American sitcom. The Simpsons were below the average suburban family, but they argued and arose in trouble in awkward ways. They said the "damn" of TV, which was unheard of in mainstream animation since the late 1980s. The "Simpsons" was pointed out, and even a little spiritual. Her disappointing sense of irony caught up with the public equally tired of traditional sitcom, and the Simpsons became one of the defined texts in the 1990s. Homer was originally portrayed as an awkward, short-term, blue-collar, obsessed with his family's attitude in the community. "Homer comes from my goal and entertaining my true father, Homer, and just a little bit out. My father was an athletic, creative, intelligent director and writer, and the only thing he had in common with Homer was a loveube to donuts.

Grooing also never intends for Homer (Versatile Dan Castelaneta, somewhere in Disney employee) to be the "Simpsons". Early in the series - for the first three seasons - it can be noticed that most of the stories focus on Bart (Nancy inspired by butler, Nancy Carthright,) and his trouble. In an interview with EW, Groning admits that the show's focus began to change because there were not so many interesting stories that they could be told about a 10-year-old delinquent. How many times can Bart do a joke that has unwanted consequences? In contrast, Homer faces consequences all the time. And its idiomity allowed a greater range of harrest patterns or bad decisions. For example, Bart will not give up school and go to the College Clown, but Homer Will.

Grooning said Homer is, in a very cynical way, an all-American father. He overeats, an alcoholic and has a temper that he sometimes made him stifle his son. It is impulsive and not thinking. His ambitions are modest and short -lived. That kind of character can wear a show better than a 10-year-old with a spray color can.
