This bad date makes the killer thriller (SXSW)

Let us never say that the original cinema is dead as long as the studio thinks that horror is a good investment. Or, in this case, more than a horror/thriller. In any case, recording genres remains one of the few spaces where original films can progress and leave it on Christopher Landon, from the fame "Happy Day of Death"To bring us one of the funniest original thrillers that will appear in some time. Enter "Drop", which only had its world premiere at SXSW for more than a month before its theater edition. Universal paintings are right to trust this because it's lean, driving a crowd worth taking. Grab for a bad yet wild fun, nail-biter on a date.

The film focuses on purple (Megan Fahi), a widow's mother who has been on her first date for years. When she arrives at the resolution restaurant to meet her patient, a handsome date Henry (Brandon Stacker), Violet is quickly terrorized by a series of anonymous, threatening downs on her phone, distracting her. Soon it is instructed to do horrible things in the name of mystery, or otherwise, the young son of Violet and Babisit's sister will be killed. Let the games start.

After seeing the drop trailer many times in the cinemas in recent months I thought a) looked like a damn good and b) that the trailer gave the movie too much. For anyone who may have a similar thought, make sure that Landon's thriller contains a lot of surprises. The term on the edge of your place is thrown a lot, but at different times, this movie really earns it.

The drop is a thriller in an old school in the center of technology in a new school

These days it is a common complaint about the movies: "They do not make us as before." This is usually approaching the fact that much of Hollywood's production is relying on old franchises or recycled ideas these days. What we have with a "drop" is a really old school, an adult -focused film that is not based on damn work. It is refreshing.

Landon is a clever director who seems to get more confident every time he steps behind the camera. While he is known for mixing a horror with a comedy, he plays it quite right here. There are moments of very much weight, but it's never too much. Landon plays many fears, first of all the date to get worse than anyone can imagine. However, he also plays a lot of contemporary fears that our technologically focused world has brought. It makes it really to believe that we did not miss it by not doing directly "scream 7."

If there is a disadvantage it is that this game The whole trauma of "trauma horror" It was quite popular from late. Even so, Landon used it well here, because the topic really helps to drive the story.

The drop is an exhibition for its starred actors in lead

Blumhouse has become a confidential name in horror. Here, the house built by Jason Bloom shows why it becomes the name of the audience to believe. Yes, Blumhouse had a rough walk in 2024 with films like "Fearing" and "Imaginary", but association with Landon once again makes a serious case for Bloomhouse to return to the right track. "Drop" feels like the Blumhouse machine does what is doing best, I am comfortable saying. The studio is one of the few there trying to allow the original ideas to bloom, and here, it pays off comfortably.

"Drop" is a very contained piece, largely in one location and focused almost entirely on its two waters. Film how this breaks up in heartbeat if they do not sell it. Fortunately, Landon and the casting department nailed him there, With "White Lotus" Braggie Megan Fahi Getting the opportunity to make a strong case for herself as a leading lady. This film lies square on her shoulders and she carries it comfortable.

Meanwhile, Brandon Spoker, came out of last year's hit of Smash "ends with us", He continues to make a case for himself as one of the following leading men in Hollywood. He is infinitely charming, never overdoing him, offering that factor that is difficult to define. Whatever "that", he has it. Together, Jahi and the staff have excellent chemistry, which makes a clever script to sing.

After all, what Landon made is an old school good time on the movies. Not a darling season of prizes. It's not a hyperbolic "this will change your life" kind of movie. It's just a damn good time.

/Movie rating: 8 out of 10
