Steven Spielberg is one of the most beloved directors in cinema history. Steven King is one of the most prolific writers in the whole popular literature. Great collaboration between these two titans has always felt like a wonderful idea. Spielberg tried to do it hard, as director Jura Park and Lincoln has long maintained the rights of King's and Peter Strawub's book Talisman. Despite 40 years of attempt, no film has come true. Why not?

King was recently a guest on the latest episode of "The Kingcast", co-host of Eric Wes and Anthony Breznjan (who took it as a co-host for the deceased, the Great Scott Wampler). In the episode, the author discussed the never -real film adaptation of Spielberg to the 1984 epic. Here's what King had to say about it:

For context, director Longles Oz Perkins has his film version of "Monkey" that hits theaters in February. King continued to note that several of his novels and short stories have been chosen many times over the years, but have never done so on the screen, with The film adaptation "From Buik 8", which was supposed to be directed by Jimim Miklis mentioned as an example. But none of those other adaptations is as elusive as "talisman", in no small part because Spielberg retained the rights for so long, leaving it on the driver's seat.

Over the years, other directors are approaching, including Oshosh Bo ("new mutants", "stand") and Mike Barker ("The Story of the Maid"), who almost received adaptation of the 2019 Talisman movie.
