In the episode "The Simpsons" "Alone Again, Natura-Diddly" (February 13, 2000), the Simpsons reveal a new outdoor car racing track in their favorite natural reserve and decide to stay and watch a race or two. Indeed, there are very recognizable characters, including Ned Flanders (Harry Shurer) And his wife Mod (Marcia Mitzman Gaveen), who sit in the back row. Between the races, the cheerleaders go on the track and use a T -shirt to firing free clothes on the stands. Tragically, one of the wrong T -shirts strikes the chest, throwing it through the back fence at the stadium. She plunged to death, landing in the parking lot down.

The rest of the episode follows Ned's grievance process as he regrets the loss of his wife. Ned, perhaps shocking, even finds his faith in God shaken by the tragedy; Usually, Ned is an ultra-Christian.

The Mode Flanders is one of the few characters that the Simpsons actually killed them permanently. The other was the jazz musician "Bleeding Gums" Murphy, who returns only to flashbacks, or, occasionally, as a spirit. It turns out, however, that writers have killed Mod Flanders for reasons that are not ordinary opportunities to tell stories or change Ned's image. It seems that the actress played by Mod, Maggie Roswell demanded an increase. When she didn't get it, Roswell gave up. In response, the Simpsons writers simply insulted the character.
