As reported by CNNthe company released a letter to investors detailing the rationale behind the price increase. "As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value to our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so we can reinvest to further improve Netflix," the document said. This means that the standard ad-free subscription will now cost $17.99, while the highest tier will go up to $24.99. The cheapest option, which includes ads, will also increase to $7.99.

Of course, Netflix isn't the only streaming service to raise its prices, and it won't be the last. That said, there may be a way for subscribers to take the sting out of the latest hike - if they sign up for other things.

There are ways to make money subscribing to Netflix — and other streaming services, for that matter — but you'll need a credit card or a mobile device to do so. According to CNBCAmerican Express's Blue Cash Preferred offers a 6% cash back bonus for people who subscribe to Netflix, which is probably the best deal at the time of writing. However, it may be worth checking with your credit card provider to see if they offer any deals on streaming platforms.

Fear not, however, if you don't have a credit card, as some cell phone providers offer deals on Netflix and other streaming services. In some cases, the service is fully included in the monthly bill, depending on which plan you sign up for. For example, T-Mobile users in the United States can subscribe to the Netflix on Us offer, which is pretty self-explanatory. Verizon also includes a variety of streaming service options, ranging from Netflix to Max. Once again, it's worth checking if your network provider is offering any sweet Netflix deals. If not, then it might be time to find another one.
