"There are not enough words to express how proud I am," Kelly, 35, wrote via Instagram Monday, January 20. "I joke about us getting old and tired but honestly I never get tired of seeing you there or seeing our girls cheering for their dad."
Kelly also shared a carousel of photos from the Sunday, January 19, game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In one photo, daughters Kelly and Matthew surround the 36-year-old Rams quarterback as he leans in to talk to them. (Kelly and Matthew, who married in 2015, share four daughters: twins Chandler and Sawyer, born in March 2017, Hunter, born in August 2018, and Tyler, born in June 2020.)
"I wonder if it's over or not ... I guess we'll find out," Kelly concluded.
After the loss, Matthews shared that he would "take some time to think" about his future in the NFL. "But I felt like I was playing pretty good," Matthews told reporters When asked on Sunday if he still had football left in him, Mathieu replied, "Of course it feels good."
Before the game, Kelly and their four daughters were seen giving Matthew words of encouragement on the field. Matthew got down on one knee and hugged his daughters while Kelly leaned into the huddle. Kelly and their daughters were by Matthew's side during the NFL season. Even when battling illness. After the Rams' game against the Minnesota Vikings was moved on January 13, the Rams organization organized a flight for the team and their families to travel together to the game.
"We were sick on that flight," Kelly admitted on the Jan. 15 episode of his "Morning After" podcast. "There was one Cause huge guilt I'm going, 'Should we be on this plane because of everyone around us and the people who have to play this game?'"
Before Kelly and her daughters got on the planeHe reached out to others in the Ram family for advice. "They were like, 'Get your ass on that plane. We all have to be together,'" Kelly said. "That was such an incredible thing for me to hear because there was a bit like, 'Do I just have to be with my kids?' "
Matthew insists that Kelly and the girls travel with him to the matchup. "Matthew was like, 'No, we'll do whatever it takes. We're all getting on this plane. We'll be together right now,'" Kelly said.
Despite the hesitation, Kelly was ultimately glad he attended the game — which the Rams won. "That win, besides the Super Bowl (in 2022), was probably my favorite win as a Ram," Kelly said.
