Current host Ken Jenningswho is also the host of the spin-off “Celebrity Jeopardy!”, did not post on social media. Instead, he addressed the situation in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published in December 2023.

“It caught me off guard because I loved working with my Maya and I'm going to miss her. I can't speak to her decision-making process or her opinion on that,” he said at the time. “But for my part, I'm just a fan of Jeopardy! and I am always glad to host when invited. I feel extremely lucky to even be considered for this job as a non-broadcaster.”

“It's a bit of a weird thing trying to bring a former contestant back to host, and obviously I was learning as I went along. But I loved growing up with Jeopardy! where Alex hosted that show for almost 38 years, and people just felt like he was part of their family, and it's impossible to fill those shoes,” he continued. "But it's a great honor and hopefully I'm looking forward to another 37 years of doing it, when I'll be a very, very old man."
