Look, I, like an entire generation of 90s kids, love Kelsey Grammer as Frasier Crane. Over four decades, the actor has demonstrated an extraordinary talent for playing a character who is at once warm and pleasant, but also unbearably pompous. Grammer never missed a step playing Dr. Crane, even in nor the excellent yet disappointing "Frasier" revival series. currently streaming on Paramount+. From his debut on Cheers to his current exploits in the streaming era, Frasier has been a joy to watch as portrayed by Grammer.

But the actor's tenure as the beloved psychiatrist hasn't been without some questionable moments. Take, for example, the time he became one frustrated by his "Frasier" co-star. that he easily punished him for being "stupid" and attracting "so much attention". At first, his comments seemed like a rib from the sitcom star, but then his 1995 memoir came out and the tone took a more serious turn. "The only difficulty I have is when people start believing he's an actor," Grammer wrote of his co-star. "Acting for me is a craft, not a reflex. It takes years to master, and while it has its rewards, the reward I seek is not a hot dog." Who is Grammer so upset about? A dog.

Moose the dog played Eddie in the original sitcom (along with his son Enzo) and was clearly not Grammer's favorite cast member. You might think the man was being fascist in trying to convey some of the comedy from his illustrious sitcom career. But that is not entirely clear from his memoirs, which continue: “The louse does tricks; I memorize lines, say words, even walk and so on. But I don't need a coach standing off-camera, wildly gesticulating and waving around a piece of meat, to know where to look."

Grammer's history of unreliable quotes continued with his the not-so-modest claim that his character alone is the key to the success of "Frasier" - an obviously "stupid" thing to say considering the original series had one of the best ensembles assembled for the small screen. Now, further evidence could be emerging in favor of Grammer's own "stupidity," though much like his dog, it remains unclear how serious the man is.

If you were wondering if Kelsey Grammer could turn his canine anger on other groupie actors being warned not to work with — children — he absolutely can ... I think so. Talking to LA TimesGrammer and Jack Cutmore-Scott (who plays Dr. Crane's son Freddy on the "Frasier" reboot) discussed the child actors used in the original sitcom. The writer asks Cutmore-Scott: "Other people have played Freddy in 'Frasier.' Have you given much thought to how to incorporate those performances into your piece? But instead of actor Freddy answering, we get another inexplicable rambling from Grammer, who seems to be on a tangent about firing kids from his sitcom. "There were a few, I fired one," the star said, adding:

"I said to one kid, 'Are you tired?' And he said, "No." And I said, "I think you should go take a nap." And he said, "No, we shouldn't take a nap." And I said, "Well, I'll tell you what, you're going to take a break anyway because I'm not sure if this is your future." "I just thought that kid wasn't going to make it."

It's hard to tell from a written interview, but it's not entirely clear that Grammer is joking here. If not, which actor did Freddy fire? Was he really that upset that the kid was doing what kids do and refusing to take a nap? It would seem funny if it were true, wouldn't it? Well, not only is this the man who agreed put together an aerial casino heist in Money Plane, the film of Daily Beast called "the dumbest movie of 2020," but wait until you hear what else he did.

Did Frasier really fire a kid for not napping? Before we can even begin to analyze Kelsey Grammer's comments in that regard, he dropped another bombshell, telling the LA Times that he also fired two little girls who played Roz's (Perry Gilpin) daughter, Alice, on the show. "I fired a couple of babies once," Grammer says. “Rose's child: we had twins for that. They just didn't want to cooperate. So I said, "Go enjoy your new career as a baby."

Now, I'm sure working with kids can be as hard as they say, especially babies. It also doesn't seem like Hollywood is known for its grace and sensitivity towards actors. But are you really going to openly admit that you dumped two little babies when you weren't even asked about it? It's got to be a joke... right? Meanwhile, Alyssa plays Grammer's daughter, Greer, on the soap opera Frasier.and if I were her, I'd worry a little about an unceremonious dismissal if the babies weren't off the table.

Not that any of this takes away from Grammer's performances, but surely any Frazier fan and follower of the man's career would be intrigued to know what was actually going on. Unfortunately, this appears to be yet another public utterance from the actor who will remain frustratingly opaque - not as frustrating as your fellow canine being called an 'actor', I'm sure - but frustrating nonetheless.
