After the clip, Guthrie pointed out how Trey himself looked dirty. "It had rusty barnacles," he joked. "I mean, it was disgusting."

Fallon, 50, once recalled being surprised by the condition of Kotb's purse, saying, “It looked like a paper binder. It looked like my father's old wallet."

Guthrie continued to poke fun at Kotb by mentioning how she sometimes likes to use a plastic bag over her purse at red carpet events. "And the Ziploc (bag), which is clear, will have a banana and a tampon (in it)," she shared.

Fallon was one of several celebrities who stopped the show to celebrate his final day. As a parting gift, Fallon gave Kotb a framed piece of carpet with the NBC peacock logo from 30 Rock's elevator.

"I titled it (sic) 'onward and upward' 'cause you're getting on the elevator and going up, right?" He said this in Friday's episode Today with Hoda and Jenna. “But then I signed it and then no one could read my writing. My handwriting is so bad it looks like it says 'Osmond and Uptown'”

Contrary to Kotb's comments, Guthrie told Fallon on Wednesday that Kotb "got up earlier than I did on Monday." He added: “Hoda woke up at 3am on Saturday morning. But he's doing great. We Facetime with him."
