After months of anxiously waiting fans and some pretty serious production delays, Dredevil: Born Again is almost upon us. Announced nearly three years ago during San Diego Comic-Con, the series will finally reunite Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock with Vincent D'Onofrio's Hell's Kitchen's Wilson Fisk. However, the Kingpin won't be the only villain for the ride this time around. Not remotely.

As you can see from the video reveals the newly released trailer for "Daredevil: Born Again."Matt Murdoch mixes it up with some masked baddies. One of them is doing graffiti and has a pale white mask with blood on it. This is none other than Muse, a villain who is a somewhat recent addition to the Marvel Comics canon, first appearing in 2016's Daredevil #11. The character was created by writer Charles Soule and artist Ron Gurney. Simply put, Muse is a serial killer who turns his victims into works of art. For now, it is not clear which actor is under that mask. Time will tell.

Muse made his debut in what Marvel Comics called "the creepiest (Daredevil) story of the century." He appeared in a total of 14 releases from his debut in 2016 to (spoilers) his death in 2018's Daredevil #600. Since no one in mainstream comics ever really dies, the character also appears in Daredevil: Unleash Hell no. 1, which hit the shelves in January of this year. The fact that Marvel brought the character back to the comics just months before he appeared on a major show is probably no coincidence.

There are other villains in the mix in "Born Again." Daredevil will get a rematch against Bullseye, for one. It also seems like yes White Tiger will be making their live debut. But none of them are as uniquely violent as Muse.

Muse is fairly unique among comic book villains in that his alter ego has never been revealed in the comics. Whether or not that changes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains to be seen. What we do know is that he is a sadistic killer who uses art to make grand gestures to the public, with blood serving as his signature medium. The media called him "Vincent van Gore". Yes, we are talking about a murderer who paints with blood, so let's not worry about that Marvel Studios will tone down Daredevil despite its move from Netflix to Disney+.

Another interesting thing that makes Muse unique compared to many Daredevil villains is that he possesses actual superpowers. He has superhuman strength as well as super-tuned reflexes, allowing him to catch projectiles thrown at him with relative ease. He also has an interesting ability to be stealthy and undetectable, as he is able to extract various sensory information from his surroundings, including smells and sounds. This makes him a deadly enemy, as some of his victims in the comics have been Inhumans. In other words, he is not only capable of killing angry people.

That's basically what to expect from Muse. At least that's what we can glean from the comics. Marvel Studios often changes characters from page to screen. Sometimes it's for the better of the project, sometimes it's not. What we do know is that "Born Again" went through a lot of turmoil behind the scenes, changing presenters and directorsin addition to getting serious overwrites and heavy firefights. Hopefully it was for the better and, with any luck, it means Muse will be given a proper live introduction.

The show also features returning Daredevil cast members Deborah Ann Wall (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Wilson Bethel (Bulsey), Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa) and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher). Margarita Levieva ("The Accolyte"), Zabrina Guevara ("New Amsterdam"), Nikki M. James ("Severance"), Geneia Walton ("Candy Cane Lane"), Artie Frowshan ("Carnival Row"), Clark Johnson ("Evil"), and Michael Gandolfini ("The Many Saints of Newark") round out the ensemble.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres March 4, 2025 on Disney+.
