The Vision (Paul Bettany) was last seen flying away at the end of "WandaVision," but he'll be starring in his own Disney+ series in 2026. Time will tell if "Vision" (the final title has not yet been confirmed) can repeat the success of last year's "WandaVision" spin-off, "Agatha All Along."

It was previously confirmed that the Vision TV series would bring back the creator of the titular android, also the robotic Ultron (James Spader). now, Deadline reports that another enemy of Iron Man will return from (seemingly) death. Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stein? Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko? Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian? No! Instead, Farhan Tahir plays Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, last seen in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film: Iron Man.

To quote Vision's late brother-in-law Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), "You didn't see that coming?" Well, Pietro, I don't!

Raza is both an obscure yet pivotal character—without him, there would be no Iron Man. In Iron Man, Raza and his Ten Rings group kidnap Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Afghanistan. The Ten Rings were hired to kill Tony of Stane, but they instead decided to keep him in prison to use his weapon-making skills. To escape, Tony creates the first version of the Iron Man suit.

Raza and his men were seemingly killed by Stane back in Iron Man, but technically he wasn't killed on screen, just paralyzed. So there is some leeway for him to go back, but God knows what role he will play against the Vision. In his final scene in Iron Man, Raza wanted to use Iron Man's technology ("A man with a dozen of them could rule all of Asia"). Has his purpose there remained unchanged?

The original Iron Man comics are a total Cold War time capsule. In the first Iron Man story ("Tales To Astonish" #39, by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber and artist Don Heck), Tony Stark demonstrates a weapon in Vietnam. His envoy is ambushed by the Viet Cong and Tony trips a land mine, leaving him in the clutches of warlord Wong-Chu.

Updating Iron Man's origin was one of the film's major challengesbut moving the setting from Vietnam to Afghanistan was a natural call. That meant turning Stark's captors from yellow menace caricatures into the "evil Muslim terrorists" trope. (The name "Ten Rings" refers to the archer weapon of the Iron Man comics, the Mandarin, which also needed some sort of makeover for the MCU.)

Now, Tahir is American, but his family is from Pakistan and he spent a large part of his childhood there. In fact, he comes from a family of artists; his father Naeem is also an actor and his mother Jasmine is a radio host. His maternal grandparents, Imtiaz Ali Taj and Hijab Imtiaz Ali were famous Pakistani writers.

Tahir remains a prolific actor outside of Iron Man. Nerds may also recognize him as Captain Robaugh in 2009's Star Trek, captain of the USS Kelvin and commanding officer of George Kirk (the future Thor, Chris Hemsworth). In addition to film and television, Tahir also starred in the 2016 stage production of Othello at the Shakespeare Theater in Washington, D.C. It's anyone's guess whether he'll be able to expand on those acting talents by returning to the part of Raza.

The Vision TV series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026.
