This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" episode 8, "The Real Good Guys."

As Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew reaches its thrilling Season 1 finale, "The Real Good Guys," we're finally treated to so many of the answers we've been wishing for, even as we still want so much more. Jodh Na Naud (Jude Law), who may be the most mysterious character of the groupbegins the episode with his found lamp in the throats of children and their parents. However, when the adults thank him for bringing the children home safely, he smiles and takes a different approach. He then takes Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and her mother Farrah (Kerry Condon) hostage and sends the rest of the family home under the watchful eye of the planet's security droids, forcing Fern and Farrah to help him disable the barrier. that his pirate crew might descend on Athens, subdue it, and rob it of its wealth.

Unfortunately for him, the children he traveled the galaxy with are determined to save their planet, stop him from carrying out his evil scheme, and bring real good guys to save the day. As they put their plans into action, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers) has a confrontation with Jod, which results in the latter spilling details about his background that feel extremely honest, as if it might be the first time he's actually told the truth.

In trying to explain to Wim how the galaxy really works, Jod discovers what feels like a deep truth about himself. He was a kid who, much like Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels, found himself on the streets struggling to survive. Then a Jedi took him in, told him he had potential, and tried to train him in the ways of the Force, only to be hunted down and destroyed as an enemy of the Republic before she could finish teaching him. It is not clear if Jod met this Jedi after order 66 had already been promulgated or during the Republic. However, given his age, it seems plausible that he was found during the Republic by a Jedi in the middle of nowhere, and that his master began training him before returning to Coruscant to seek the Council's blessing. Jedi, if only for Order 66 to be issued before that happens.

Together, Jod and his instructor were able to run away. However, with his master dead, his skills in the Force have been honed only enough to be useful, and with nowhere else to go, Jod seems to have chosen to turn to a life of crime. No wonder he joined pirates and made his way through the galaxy that way. Seeing his master die and seeing the cruelty in the galaxy and that kind of life taken away from you would be enough to harden someone to that kind of life.

Likewise, it's hard not to wonder: Where could Jod have ended up if his master hadn't been killed by the Empire's Jedi hunters, and how did he escape them himself? We know from the episodes of Star Wars Rebels and Obi-Wan Kenobi that the Inquisitors hunted Force-sensitive adults and children, while Darth Vader did not hesitate to kill young (as we saw in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith). So how did Jod get away with it? Is that a hole in his story or is he stronger in the Force than he lets on? It would be nice to learn more about him.

As the rest of the episode unfolds and Wim and the rest of the kids outmaneuver Jod and his pirate gang, he realizes that he can't win the war, but at that point he surrenders the battle. That is a very interesting character trait. Jodh is still able to use the Force to regain his lightsaber after Wim overpowers it and injures the children, along with their parents and the rest of Atin, but he voluntarily gives up the fight entirely when he realizes he's been hit. That it is not the same Jod who killed Captain Brutus cold blooded. He has a soft spot for these kids and it's obvious that when he says he didn't want things to go this way, he means it. He and Wim seem to share a moment before going their separate ways, as if all can be forgiven here.

What Jod's fate is is still a bit of a mystery until the end of "Real Good Guys", it's possible that he was responsible for bringing the power back online to Atin, as he was left in the warden's tower where the power was still out the last time we saw him. What will happen to him in the end? No one can really say for sure at this stage, unless he turns out to be the same Captain Jack we later see piloting the Halcyon. Personally, I hope we get more seasons of Skeleton Crew to find out. His adventures with the kids and pirate escapades were nothing short of fun.
