Yesterday I headed south through the country roads east of Morgan Hill, through St. Martin to Gilroy. I lay down with electric assistance. The wind was light, so I was able to maintain an average speed of just under 20 mph, which was an exciting brisk pace. 27 miles covered in a little over 90 minutes. I was happy to see the green hills after the recent rains.
We are lucky that the vegetation in the north is not that dry. Our friends to the south were not so lucky, where it was drier and strong Santa Ana winds brought warm, dry air, which made the fires more severe. I personally don't know anyone who has lost their home, but we are caring for those who have. Firefighters here have been downstairs helping, just like Southern California firefighters have helped us in the past. We are all in this together.
