I'm a huge horror fiend, but there are usually two things that keep me from checking out a horror movie: bad reviews and bad coverage. Unfortunately, 2015 Last girl It suffers from both, which is why I ignore the film no matter how many times my various algorithms throw it in my face. I finally got around to watching this movie for free on Tubi, and despite what its haters say, I'm happy to report that this was very recently. Perfect Scary movie.
Take the last girl that catches the eye
Actors of Last girl It's pretty lean, but it has some pretty big names in it, including Abigail Breslin (best known for Little Miss Sunshine) as The Last Daughter and Wes Bentley (best known for American beauty And Interstellar) a no-nonsense coach like her. She is trained by a secret organization that gives her James Bond level abilities to help her kill bad guys. In this film, the bad guys in question are played by a charismatic sociopath (Alexander Ludwig, in The Hunger Games and the Vikings TV show).
While not everyone's cup of tea, I really liked it. Last girl For milder tales, including the fact that we don't get many precise details about who this mysterious organization is, what its purpose is, or the exact year this session takes place. The ultimate "show, don't tell" is a horror movie, and that's only fitting because of director Tyler Shields. Shields is a photographer by trade, and to his credit, he infuses each frame of the film with a signature style that ensures the balance between the artist's extremes. Zack Snyder and Jim Jarmusch's art-house minimalism.
Buffy fans take notice
If you like horror movies, how can you enjoy it? Last girl It breaks the expectations in a good culture Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The bad guys are four young killers. They consider Breslin's character to be their next target, not knowing that she has spent her entire life training to kill these types of scum in the most gruesomely creative ways.
The film is similarly creative, but that can be hard to appreciate if you don't see past the very trope-y plot. Buffy Summers is a classic revenge story with a twist where the victim is ready to turn the tables on what they get if they stun human monsters instead of the undead. While there are some very familiar tropes on display, this film's dialogue is brilliant, the cinematography is stunning, and the kills are both unpredictable and satisfying, making this one film more than the sum of its trope-y parts.
Not enough reviews
Unfortunately, not everyone is impressed. Last girl As soon as it comes out (first with a limited theatrical release and then on video on demand). It's on Rotten tomatoesThe film currently has a critical score of 25 percent, although from 12 critics. And while every fan likes to say that their favorite movie is trash, the one thing where most critics are actually wrong is that the plot is basic and the movie is too intense. What did they say from A Terrible a movie?
is true. Last girl I'm not going to blow your mind with a complex plot from a Chris Nolan movie, but I'd argue that the best slasher movies stick to the classic formula of movies. Friday the 13th Still managing to surprise us with a few unexpected twists. It's just like that. Last girl It does: It takes the formula of hunting and killing unsuspecting victims in the woods, but turns those victims into victims. The result is a rare horror movie where we root for a ruthless killer while she's on the job of killing some of the worst people out there.
you will find Last girl Do you find it as exciting as I do, or do you agree with the critics that this attempt at artistic subterfuge falls short of hitting a cinematic artery? The only way to find out is to stream it for free on Tubi. In the year When this movie comes out in 2015, I'll leave you with a simple reminder that someone could share with me: it's a lot. a lot It is better than the horrible cover.
