"Yesterday my brother-in-law and sister-in-law Griff & Kit lost their home and everything they own in the Eaton Fire," she began. "With their first baby on the way in a few weeks, they need our support now more than ever. Griff is a touring musician and also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion that he uses for a living. It's all a lot. So many asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time...Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild."

She then addressed "people who wonder if we're helping our family or crediting an arbitrary amount of money that Google says is NOT helpful or empathetic."

However, addressing the backlash only seemed to add fuel to the fire.

"How deaf can one be?" wrote one Instagram user.

"Excuse me, but you are a millionaire and you have friends who are millionaires," said another. "I don't understand why you ask people for money. Outside of Instagram..."

A third expressed: "Ugh... NOT a good look from someone who has enough."

They added: "The audacity of a multi-millionaire asking everyday people living paycheck to paycheck to donate to her family member, when she could easily give the full amount of the goal without affecting her family in any way... THEN that's the person who says 'F OFF' for saying something about something that really touches me.

The comments continued to pour in as one social media user wrote:

"Really??? You don't have a few million to give? There are people who lost their lives under Israeli and American bombs in another part of the world and not a word! But we normal people should cry our eyes out and open our pockets for the Americans? Shame on you whatever!"

Another chimed in: "It won't turn down when you're worth MILLIONS asking people with DOLLARS for help. It's in bad taste."

Meanwhile, one fan understood both sides of the drama. "Nothing but respect for you as a talented actress and a genuinely kind soul. However, I understand why people feel frustrated when wealthy individuals living in Los Angeles ask for donations, it can feel irrelevant if more context is not given," the Instagram user expressed .

They added that while "this is undeniably a tragedy," many are forgetting about North Carolina and "the countless other tragedies that are happening elsewhere."

"This situation involves someone who already lives in one of the most expensive states in the US, and while your support for your friends is admirable, more context would go a long way," the social media user continued.

The user then admitted "it's a heartbreaking situation" and "it's kind of for (Moore) to lend his voice to it."

"The public may feel angered by a successful person asking for donations because it may appear tone-deaf, given their financial privilege," the commentary said.

"Many people are struggling to make ends meet and may feel it is unfair that someone with significant wealth or access to resources is relying on public handouts rather than tackling the issue themselves. This disparity can create frustration and resentment, especially when countless others in a dire situation of need without similar privileges."
