Stephen "tWitch" the bossHis mom, Connie Boss Alexander, released a statement expressing her family's commitment to defending his honor.

A day before Kony's statement, Holker, who has received a lot of criticism since the interview was released, posted on Instagram sharing her reason for writing the memoir.

On Thursday, tWitch's mom, Connie, took to Instagram to share statement about how she and her family feel about Holker's recent revelations.

"Our family is absolutely appalled by the false and misleading claims about my son Stephen Boss," the statement read. "Recent publications spreading untruths about Stephen have crossed the line of decency."

Connie vowed not to let the allegations against TWitch "go unanswered" and vowed his family would not allow his name and legacy to be tarnished.

She said: "We will not stand by while his name and legacy are tarnished. He does not deserve this and the children do not deserve this."

In the second part of the statement, Connie revealed that she stayed behind the scenes after her son's death to "protect" her family.

She said: "For the last two years I have been quiet and out of the public eye to protect my family. My primary focus has been on healing and trying to stay connected to my grandchildren."

Connie said she had to break her silence after reading the "appalling" claims about tWitch and expressed her family's determination to defend "his honour".

"But when I read these horrific claims about my baby, our beloved Stephen, I knew I could no longer remain silent," she said, before concluding: "Our family will ensure that his name and memory are protected, and we are committed defend his honor."

Many fans who reacted to Stephen "tWitch" Boss's mother's statement praised her for speaking out following Holker's interview and revelations about the late professional dancer.

Digital creator Katie Paulson commented, "I stand with you through all of this. You did what you thought was right by trying to keep the peace. And she (Holker) took your kindness as weakness."

Paulson added: "Stephen deserves dignity in death. I'm sure this is heartbreaking for you, but his children deserve to know that his family never stopped fighting for him and for them. So many of us have your back and lift you up be as you fight for justice."

One fan commented, "When a woman makes false statements, my mind wonders what really happened to him."

Another fan wrote: "I don't understand her (Holker's) need to come out and do this now. It's been 2 years. Get well in peace."

Dancer and actress Lauren Gottlieb expressed her support for Connie, writing: "We are all with you."

Television producer Andy Lassner also wrote: "Sending you so much love."

Connie's statement comes a day after Holker wrote a lengthy message to tWitch's fans, family and friends to explain why she wrote the book.

She stated, "I want to be clear that my only intention in writing the book is to share my story and a part of my life with Stephen to help other people."

Holker hoped people would have a different perspective after reading the book and see that it intended to "celebrate the love and life I shared with Stephen and our three beautiful children, as well as the more complex aspects of our lives".

She also hoped to "help someone else who might see themselves or a loved one in Stephen" catch some of the red flags she missed "before it's too late".

Holker revealed that she has spent the past two years talking to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and other organizations to learn more about mental health issues so she can "share the warning signs with others."

She also pledged that proceeds from her memoir, "This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light," due out on February 4, will go towards funding her mental health foundation, Move with Kindness, which was founded in honor of tWitch.

Afterwards PEOPLE Magazine published an interview with Holker, she faced a backlash on social media.

Candice Dillard of "Real Housewives of Potomac" fame criticized Holker for revealing details about her late husband, questioning her protection of his legacy and suggesting that a black-owned home would fare better.

tWitch's cousin Darielle accused Holker of tarnishing his legacy and limiting access to the family, while former "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant Courtney Ann Platt called her memoir "disgusting" and "opportunistic."

tWitch's brother, Dré Rose, also expressed concern about the family's limited communication and involvement with his children.
