Now the latest Battlestar Galactica A reboot has come out of Hollywood's airlock, with fans debating how to bring this franchise back. However, as the reboot likes to remind us, everything that happened before is destined to happen again. With this in mind, I have a simple proposal: a Battlestar Galactica In the year A spinoff about what was happening on various colony ships during the 2003 reboot, an idea that hearkens back to the very first season of that show.
The original idea of Battlestar Galactica
During the reboot, we didn't get too many episodes featuring civilian ships, and most of the best ones were in the show's first season. This is because Ronald D. Moore originally wanted the show to repeatedly explore what was going on in the ships, but SyFy was concerned about the cost of doing so. And after "Bastille Day" (which mostly took place on a prison ship) cost too much to produce, the network and Moore agreed to focus the action mostly on the Galactica for future episodes.
In short, this idea makes it perfect Battlestar Galactica spinoff show. It could also work as a true story, with each episode focusing on a different ship and crew during the main show's run. Creatively, this will be a real win/win because viewers will always have new characters to love and the network can hire some big names for one-off appearances, which is easier than locking someone in for multiple seasons. Contract.
Setting up a Battlestar Galactica During the original show, the spinoff will give fans more adventures in the franchise's most exciting time…that is, after the Sileons attack the colonies. When I think about it Caprice Well, that show's low ratings and subsequent cancellation are proof that fans don't necessarily want prequels or other types of spinoffs that stray too far from what they know and love. In this anthology style spinoff, it could have a familiar setting (colony ships) and premise (humans trying to survive a Cylon-induced apocalypse) with exciting new characters.
Also, with this Battlestar Galactica A spinoff, the reboot will have room to restore the footage in a number of ways, including simply bringing in the original audio to serve as broadcasts received by the colony ships. Alternatively, the new spinoff could employ the cast of the reboot to provide new voice work. Keeping their voices to audio only means producers don't have to worry about making the actors look young, and the actors are more likely to simply record a few lines and return if they receive a freakin' pay check.
At the risk of sounding arrogant like Gaius Baltar, this Battlestar Galactica The spinoff idea has a little something for everyone: new stories, familiar ships, and endless narrative potential. It could be made into a TV show or a series of movies made for streaming, and would be relatively cheap to produce (especially since there's no real need for space battles or other action-heavy shows). But, this time around, some overpaid executives are working on a reboot. Galactica Starting from scratch, and as long as the manufacturers do not accept the previous idea DecadesThis franchise will never reinvent itself into a new entity.
