This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" episode 7, "We're going to be in so much trouble."
Sometimes, a mystery is a mystery. In other cases, it's just plain information that hasn't been transmitted yet. In We'll Be in So Much Trouble, on Star Wars: Skeleton Crew inspired by Amblin he finally discovers that his two biggest secrets—the Onyx Cinder spaceship and the hidden planet Atin—belong to the latter category.
After finding the Onyx Ashes and accidentally leaving their home planet for a big space adventure, Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kira Armstrong), K.B. the rest of the galaxy regards Aten as little more than a myth. Even in the scenes set on the seemingly idyllic planet, it has heavy Severance undertones, with people doing mysterious tasks under heavy security in a project known as the Big Thing. In fact, before "Skeleton Crew" episode 7, all we knew for sure was that At Attin had an Old Republic forge.
We'll Be In So Much Trouble Finally Reveals Why Aten Has So Many Secrets: Every major character in the series just happens to be either an outsider who knows very little about the planet to begin with, or a minor native of Aten who hasn't been told their true nature. on the planet. When Jude Law when the onyx ash settles and the children meet their parents, the adults say almost casually that the people of Athens are informed about the peculiarities of the planet after they graduate. All the native adults are fully aware of the nature of the planet as a mint (and possibly a gold reserve) and that its location is simply protected in order to deter thieves like Jod.
Like Attin, Onyx Cinder gets a simple explanation
The seventh episode of Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew not only reveals that Atin is less of an enigma and more of a well-protected branch of the Star Wars equivalent of the Treasury Department. It also explains why Onyx Cinder seems so instrumental. The show's central spaceship, which the kids find in episode 1 of "Skeleton Crew," titled "This Could Be a Real Adventure," is known to many lowlifes as a legendary ship. Known Star Wars Pirate Tuck Renaud used to possess it and is fully capable of surviving the Athenian defense mechanisms. Episode 6, "Zero Friends Again," even reveals that the ship has the unique ability to shed its armor to escape a sticky situation.
In episode 7, we discover that Onyx Cinder is only legendary in the same sense as Attin. The ship is actually from Athens, and is simply equipped with armor to survive the pirate life. This explains virtually all of the above special properties, from the removable armor to his presence on the planet at the start of the show and his ability to exit and enter Athens.
That's right, We're Gonna Be in So Much Trouble provides perfectly reasonable and borderline boring explanations for the biggest mysteries it dangles in front of the viewer. Fortunately, there's still room for a few more surprises, from Jod's true identity to the lingering mysteries of Attin's Supervisor (voice of Stephen Fry) and legendary pirate Tuck Renaud. Maybe these secrets will also get surprisingly simple explanations in the final episode of Season 1 on January 14, 2025... or maybe Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew is just saving its biggest crazies for the grand finale.
